DPS are the Worst. Enjoy those long queues

I experienced abuse from DPS when I first started tanking. Tried to explain to people I was a first time tank, didnt matter. DPS were still abusive and accusatory even when THEY were the issue.

So last night, decided to do some LFR, for echoes, ended up in a partial completion and the raid was on Ilgynoth. Apparently one tank already left. As I’m standing there, this typical mongo warrior walks up to the remaining Druid Tank and says, “Stop sucking druid.” Didnt even call the dude by his name, just druid.

I’m standing there thinking," what the hell did I phase into?"

Then, without a word, the druid drops grp. I then ask the warrior why he did that? His response, “bads shouldnt queue.” Its LFR and you’re a warrior, calling people “bads.”

Another tank finally shows up. Another Blood DK. In 1 minute, 1, we talk about what to do to make sure we are on the same page and knock it out the park.

I tell the raid if they dont want to have to wait hours for grps and wait for tanks, try to be more patient and offer help when you see someone is a new tank. You know the fight? Send a whisper and say, “hey you know the fight? If not I can tell you what to do.”

It takes less time to explain a fight to a new tank than insult them and then wait 15 minutes waiting for another one. I doubt that poor druid is gonna even try again. Maybe quit tanking all together, yeah continuing the shortage of tanks is what we need. Right?

Stop being a horses rear end and talk to people, ask questions and help out. Tanking is Not easy and at times not very satisfying, dont add to the negative aspects of tanking by being a brain dead DPS that has no patience for people trying to take up that burden.

Idk, i have seen entitled Tanks thinking they can boss dps around and holding them hostage by threatening to throw them into long qeue times.

We tend to kick tanks like that anyway though.

Trial by fire is the best way to learn to tank.
If you couldn’t handle it. You weren’t gonna be a quality tank anyway

I’m pretty sure that’s not a regular even. My experience is quite the opposite. Even as a DPS player for 15 years, I’ve only seen maybe a handful of arrogant tanks.

Dps are far and away the most impatient, entitled jerks in the game. Constantly.

But there are times where DPS ARE the jerks and start bashing them over nothing, or randomly pulling far more than what the tank can handle ignoring their cooldowns.

You’re the tank. Handle it
Coming from a tank main since Classic (DK tank since wrath)

Happens quite a lot actually.

Agree with Swalsh. You gotta have thick skin to be a tank.

Don’t ever do this in the future. Just wing it.

If only it were that easy.

Mostly if the healer is extremely confident they can keep you alive and urge you to aggro more, I’d go for it.

Heck, if you have a shaman around, they can help you and you can pull even more.

My wife is a tank and she carries my scrub dps to the front of the line every time. :sunglasses:

Sure, then tell the babies crying about long queue times to just handle it.

I’m trying to offer actual solutions for the issue.

Handle it…isn’t a solution.

well see thats your problem right there never do LFR its just not worth the effort anymore. Cant we get better gear from world quests now? or was it M+ that gives out the better gear for LFR?

Regardless of role, it’s always better to help those learning when possible. Everyone wins. Some players are worse than others, but we’re just talking lfr in the end.

Sometimes, you just got to have thicker skin. :frowning:

You’re operating under the misguided idea that being a terrible person is a DPS player problem. It’s an everyone problem. Most people are terrible people, it’s not just DPS.

Its not about gear for me. I out gear it a bit. It’s a out echoes.

your only reason for existence is to pull fast … its worse for healers because their only reason for existence is to keep them alive while they stand in fire

It is overwhelmingly type A DPS players. Fact.

Most people you meet, especially on the internet, are going to be terrible people. There’s nothing about being a DPS that inherently makes them terrible people, you just see it happen more often with DPS because DPS is the most populated role. In terms of role population, the percentage of people that’re terrible people is probably about the same for every role.
