I’m wanting to play a class that has a healing spec and a dps spec. A tanking spec is optional. But mainly I’ll be switching between dps and healing spec’s which ever one of these specs get me the groups first. I also plan on transmog hunting old content. I’m not new to the game and roughly familiar with the healing specs classes. Any opinions as to what classes are a good fit? I’m having trouble picking because they all look fun at lvl 70.
Evoker. Druid. Priest. All in pretty good spots. Paladin tanks are at a premium for the new affix weeks and most of the dungeon-specific mechanics as well as a side bit.
Druids are great I only really play guardian and resto, but I’m sure boomkin and feral are good too, for people that like that sort of thing.
Druids are the only class that can do tank, heals, ranged, and melee dps, all in one class.
Since transmog seems important to you, I recommend pally or priest. Druid is versatile, but you’ll spend most of your time shapeshifted, unless you’re healing. And race options for druid are pretty limited.
I’d say all the classes able to heal are in a good spot, so choose whatever feels better for you.
But, that said, I’d give you some additional hints to help you out:
First, decide whether you want to melee or play ranged. This, I think, is your most important decision.
Then,
Priest is a good choice for a ranged healer. It has 2 healing specs to choose from and the DPS spec is pretty meta right now.
Paladin is a good choice for a melee healer. As a melee DPS they’re strong and easy to use, while their healing style is simple and effective. It has the plus of having a very strong tanking spec right now.
Druid is a good choice if you want to be able to switch between all roles. It has both melee and ranged DPS specs, tank and healer specs. Very versatile by design.
Evoker is the new thing, so it’s a good place to start. It’s also very strong as both healer and dps, and a new spec is coming soon that’s something entirely new.
Shaman is always a solid choice, even when it’s not in the top meta. It’s a very straightforward healer with plenty of utility and offers 2 different ways to DPS. It’s also very hybrid by design, able to switch into DPS mode as a healer, or to heal in emergencies as a DPS.
Monk is the least played for a reason, as it feels somewhat neglected (even at times when its numbers are strong), but offers a very unique fantasy and way of doing your things. If you like doing things in a different way than the rest, it may be for you.
Not enough people are saying Shaman.
Shaman is in a great place right now for healing. Mail has cool transmogs. Ghostwolf is awesome and, unlike travel form, works indoors (GREAT for transmog runs).
It has 2 DPS specs to choose from, melee or caster.
Cat form does work indoors though and it provides the same movement speed increase as ghost wolf at 30%.
Druids will always be the class you wanna play if you are farming as their aoe and survivability is par none.
If transmog is important, resto druid and balance druid can both show off your gear.
Guardian or feral, not so much.
100% resto / ele shaman
The one that’s efficient;
Boomkin+ Resto Druid
Powerful healing and very good burst and sustained damage to targets all around. Incredible farming utility and talented movement speed perks on top of cat form. Stealth and Brez. When doing older content moonfire and sunfire work wonders in terms of ranged aoe kills (instantly applied).
The utility and output say Druid…
Now that is out of the way………
The one i recommend;
Elemental + Resto Shaman
Can be a Draenei /waggle.
Lightning looks cool. You can be a Ghost wolf which has some movement speed perks. You can come back to life on your own. Easy healing style and good burst damage. Damage profile is very powerful and passive which is good for starters.
Priest get a healer with holy, dps with shadow and a kinda fusion of both DPS and Healer with Discipline the spec I main
Also cloth mogs are awesome.
Evoker transmog options are limited since they’re so new. And you won’t see them in combat, or you’ll have to design your mog specifically for dragon form and balance that with your visage look. On the other hand, I’ve heard gameplay for Preservation is unique and fun. (I main Devastation, so can’t comment on that. But DPS is super fun.)
Currently paladins are pretty much S++ tier.
Monk is a sleeper pick. Really powerful and good niche utility. Healing sucks compared to all choices but can handle whatever level you are at.
Priest is also a solid pick. For mog consideration alone, I would avoid the mail classes. Mail mog choices suck compared to the other 3
Isnt car form 40%? Or is that just for feral?
Druid fo sho.
I believe it’s 30% feral/druid tree might have a talent that further increases the movement speed (I unfortunately haven’t played druid since BFA/legion).
Yes, when!
Isnt that travel form?
Car weaving plz. We got the carmaggeddon style physics for it!
They are saving that for mechagnome druid
