I literally only open the Twitch app once a week, hit the update addons button, and then close it. o.O What are you people doing exactly that is making the client so invasive?
because people here are technologically illiterate.
I just reinstalled Windows & WoW and I guess I'm going to go the manual route for now. Screw Twitch and that whole culture.

all of those problems are on your end buddy
You guys are so full of !@#$ with this attitude. Acting like having Twitch shoved in your face just to have auto addon updates is ok.
Well after using the Minion updater I found that 12 of the addons reverted to older versions. I had lua issues in the game that are gone after going back to twitch and updating those addons. So Minion is uninstalled. Minion was using one addon from 6.2 instead of 7.3.
I hate all the things OP describes. But I've never experienced any of it with the Twitch app. I was very reluctant to upgrade when I heard they bought out Curse. For me, it has been smooth sailing.

What's wrong with it again? You can open the app directly to the mods page and then close it when you're done without ever seeing any other aspect of Twitch, literally the same thing any other addon client would do.
In the upper Left hand corner.. Left-click the 3lines (above the word twitch..)
Then click on File>Settings
In each section you need to scroll down alot in the main window..
General- choose *exit twitch when i close the window
AND - *turn off (start twitch when I start my computer
Now goto the Addons section (left side of the list...
Addons - Turn on * Show my addons at launch.
If you wish mess with the settings in Privacy... but in all honesty.. if its ONLY open to get or update addons.. then -- why?? However it is all up to your wishes.
Enjoy!
For those that cant find your games... Goto Mods - click your game,.. WoW/etc... and then click on my addons/get more addons.. and when you SIGN IN to twitch.. tell it to 'KEEP you signed in' ... its not hard.. I am not sure why some claim of issues, I have done this , helped others do this as well- and have had no problems.

I'm tired of this Twitch Client poo. At first I dealt with the unnecessary data clogging my computer, streams being shoved down my throat, and social media B.S that harms my privacy but now at this point it doesn't even work anymore. It doesn't detect any of my games or update my addons, it's just a waste of space trying to get me to join in on the kappa cancer. Is there any source to download the old school curse client that simply did it's job of updating addons, without all the streaming B.S attached?
The curse client doesn't exist anymore.
You either use the twitch client, or you install your addons manually.

This thread is pretty much proof people will complain about anything.
No its just another person like myself who hates the bloated software needed to update addons.
I use Twitch for two things:
1) Update addons
2) DJ parties in games other than WoW (Twitch + XSplit and some preprepared graphics, yay). And I haven't DJ'd in months.
