Winning the daily is 6 marks total though.
And there often is no losing quickly, anyway. People roll over and just defend 2 bases of an AB for 20 minutes.

You aren’t the only one who deals with this - I’ve joined tons of AB’s and EOTS where 3-5 minutes into the game we are down by 100 points and people say “just let them win it will be quicker” lol.
let them win
Yeah but once people get their win for the day, if they’re grinding BGs for marks for turn ins, they’re mostly going to trend towards wanting fast matches to get to the next one.
Almost every match I’ve joined the past few days where my team has been down, there’s been a couple people that say “lose fast, get the mark, move on to the next one”.
The marks being worth so much now makes that just a reality.
This suggests the Nash equilibrium state of AB is when zero alliance leave the starting area and the game ends in 3 minutes. And yes, as alliance, when you queue for AB you are the one player and you are faced with 29 opponents
It really depends.
There have definitely been games people gave up way to quickly after losing the first battle. Other times, the gear gap is obvious enough giving up 5 bases is better than barely holding 2 for a slog game.
Usually you can tell pretty quickly how even the teams are. So yeah if your side gets steam rolled and 5 capped in the first 5 minutes chances are it’s a loss.
It doesnt have to be 2/3 even 3/2 and some start it up. The new game is to get that early 4 cap lead, so the other side gives up first
This has been a problem for as long as pvp has been better than or comparable to pve raid gear.
Its players who do not enjoy PvP being forced into doing something they dont want to in order to gear up for PvE.
Its not seen as much in live due to:
It was never this bad back in the day because it was more of an EQ type community that was use to massive grinds. The current generation of gamers just isnt willing put up w/ it … and resort to botting, afking in AV, or strait up throwing games in hopes that people will carry them in the next one.
Its sad … but what can you do? Its not like unrated BGs have some type of an MMR or ELO.
Honestly thats the best thing bliz could do atm for the community … put preforms against preforms and scrubs against other scrubs.
the emo is very strong in this playerbase. the black eyeliner sales must’ve gone up with Classic-TBC releases.
Its not even “emo” its all the pve elitists. I actualy had a guildie get mad at a 3 cap AB because:
why the hell is the other team not giving up, they are slowing down our honor grind
Its the elitist pve mentality applied to PvP for the sake of PvE. Its the idea of doing AV on a AB weekend because the honor gain is slightly better due to the win to loss ratio and the BG duration. Same guildie got mad at a stalemated AV that came down to resources rather than boss kill. Sad part is, this guildie is not uncommon atm. I dare say they are part of the majority in terms of TBC players atm.
I don’t really understand the player base, they seem to only like the raids but they wanna get in and out as fast as possible and everything else is a waste of their time. They could roll a toon on retail and really clear it in record time.
True. People see queueing BGs as no different from farming mobs, don’t play competitively to win, just get that honor and marks. Don’t try too hard, just sit afk to end the game quicker.
It’s really sad and unfortunate, because I think in some ways TBC PVP is superior to Retail’s.
Quitter mentality is probably the worst thing to come with Classic. It was never as bad in the old days as it is today with people not wanting to put the effort in to turn a potential loss around.
In my entirety of playing online multplayer games I’ve never seen a community that’s as defeatist as Classic PvP players.
This reminds me a lot of the people who were playing BGs back in 2007. If we lost Blacksmith “Just let them win” if they got the first flag cap “Just let them win”. People keep explaining the maximum honor per hour computations and fast losses versus slow wins, and … I still don’t understand letting the enemy win. It just does not compute.
This is just the result of AB being the worst designed PvP map of all time combined with the complete and utter lack of rewards received while inside a BG doing stuff. If objectives rewarded more honor, if killing the opposite team rewarded a lot more honor with diminishing returns to avoid one sided honor fest and GY camping. If things like bounties on players with HK sprees was a thing, etc.
Basically, incentives to play the damn BG and a BG that’s actually fun to play is what’s needed to keep players from just choosing to be losers on purpose.
I like AB. EotS on the other hand…

Yup, its sad to see what peoples mentality “just give up…”, BGs people queue up not to win but to get their skinner box reward.
We didn’t need duplicate threads about the same thing and we really didn’t need them necroed.

This thread is a duplicate of what? And do you think only 1 thread can exist about any one topic, how presumptuous of you. tsk tsk
