Doubling down on melee hunter?

How are you going to nerf dual wield rune to remove the 30% damage and then create another rune, raptors fury, that stacks to 75% lol. Melee hunter is probably going to pull double the damage of ranged hunter with how little ranged got.

TSA got a buff, it now adds AP and RAP at the same time - so hunters get 2x AP from it.

it could be a fake rune in there to get people talking, it probably is a steady shot rune to allow us to do 100% damage … lol steady shot is the worse shot in all of this version, its even terrible in cata where it serves a purpose to build up focus and even than its a joke of a shot

That is so minimal compared to % scaling. Imagine if they added a reset mechanic to chimera shot that stacked its damage by 15% every time it shot while also reducing the cool down to 3 seconds with a chance to not incur a CD.

OH I agree, Melee Hunters still OP as hell.

But Ranged got some noticable buffs all the same.

It’s not exactly 75% damage boost.
The buff doesn’t refresh on getting another stack, so if you get really lucky with resets it’s 75% buff for 7.5s, if you get super unlucky you won’t even get up to 75% buff.

Pretty safe to say maintaining 45% won’t be difficult with a 15 second buff duration and a 3 second CD. Don’t see a way anything comes close to the power of 31/0/7 plus wherever else points go.

Oh of course, I’m not saying Melee hunter isn’t going to be better than Ranged hunter, but it’s not that insane either compared to other classes. Raptor Strike for Beastmaster is maybe 30% of our damage at most if we’re lucky on resets, so the buff is really just about 10-20% damage boost with rough napkin maths.

Compared to a rune like Mental Alacrity for Shaman where they get 100% of their int as AP and 30% of their AP as Spell damage, I’d say it’s not that insane of a rune.
Just Ranged hunter being shafted for another phase because they vehimently refuse to make our Serpent Sting, Arcane Shot, Explo trap, Immo trap, and Volley scale on RAP.

That’s going to change a bit with 20% RS crit opening up again on top of BM damage. It’s insane how much power they gave shamans and then ranged gets this flacid AS rune that requires a pet instead of lone wolf. Just designated buff support stick plinking for 60% of the damage melee is going to do again. TNT should’ve given trap RAP scaling. Serpent spread needs to make serpent sting scale with RAP as well.

Well, if they change TNT to actually be useful we won’t need focus fire, not gonna hold my breath on that though.
Lock and Load is a pretty neat buff though.

Edit: They should have just made Lone Wolf the tanking stance rune. :upside_down_face:

it looks pretty sweet but i see they changed out traps now to take 15 seconds to place (it says “none”) but if you look at the details it says 15 second timer, so there goes my thought of taking aimed shot and lobbin some traps to get an insta aimed shot proc off

Lock and load will be great for PvP. Double chimera shotting someone is going to hurt.

No, it’s 15s Cooldown, not to place.

The only thing the datamine change can hint at here is potentially removing the GCD on trap.

which means it will be nerf’d faster than you can say buff shaman. I wish they kept pvp out of my PVE game and let me enjoy PVE ranged hunter to its fulliest

They really don’t want Ranged Hunter viable in SoD lol. I mean it’s whatever at this point.

Still won’t compete with any spec in terms of DPS.

TSA buff isn’t noticeable at all, like it might as well of not even been added.
