DoubleAgent. The Pandaren that herbs their way to the level cap. Is this something specific to their starter zone, or can i level a toon to cap by herbing anywhere?
The whole gimmick was they leveled to cap without picking horde or alliance. You have to pick one to leave the island which is why they stayed there.

I know, it just seems insane to me picking herbs gives exp all the way to max.

It was a mix of herbs and pet battles.

When I level a new character now I take herb and mine. You do get a lot of xp and can run around doing it waiting for a que to pop.

It’s been all pet battles for years, gathering stops giving XP.

And some lower level herbs and ores sell for good money too.

Not DA, but I have spent a little time on the turtle.
Nothing special as far as I’ve ever noticed, it’s just whether or not the harvesting nodes continue to give you any exp once you out outlevel and outskill the herbs . The formula has been tweaked several times through various expansions/squishes.
So long as the gains are non-zero, it’s just a matter of time and patience with the endless repetition.

I don’t have a level 69 character handy to test right to the end, but I have a L51 character on the PTR so I gave him herbalism and sent him out into Ewynn Forest. He’s still getting 50exp per basic herb which translates to less than 1000 picks to gain a level.
That’s interesting, maybe they changed it in the level squish. But greyed out herbs were definitely giving nothing back during Mists/WoD/etc.
And the mats sell for good starter gold too. I tend to herb my way around teldrassil. My toons used to pay for their own flying as they leveled purely from herbing. Was great.

Not really, there was a calculation done by Chicho. It would have taken about 60 days if I’m not mistaken to do 60-70 solely on those, did it in 12 days this expansion, pet battles max at 5 per day, which limit how fast you can level with those dailies. I have recorded stuff, they give 50 XP, 100 on rested.
In fact, I will likely stream 70-80 next expansion, just figuring which neutral to do first this time as I’m currently at 4 70s there… leaning towards my Rogue.
