Honestly such a dumb change, it got replaced with a 10% CDR to Aimed shot and Rapid fire.
Just attach salvo to volley and keep Double tap in the game, boom MM fixed.
If they go through with removing Double Tap, im just quitting the game at this point, im tired of them not listening to actual feedback from people that play the class.

It’s not a bad change per se, the thing is, removing MM hunter burst now means they are probably the actual worst spec in PvP, so some kind of defensive compensation was warranted.
I’m really curious why they’re adding a CDR talent hitting 2 skills that have CD resets via Lock and Load and Surging Shots. No one is going to take that crap, and talents people actually want like Sharpshooter are still inaccessible and will never be touched.
While I think Double Tap is stupid in a PvE context, a talent to increase the shot count of Rapid Fire makes way more sense than what they’re adjusting.
The Salvo change description is also identical to its current implementation. Very confused.

Literally RIP MM hunters in pvp. That’s the only real pressure MM has to be honest. They’re definitely dead in pvp.
Meanwhile, there are no changes to monk’s Thunderfist, Rogue’s Secret Technique, SP burst , etc.
I don’t see why they didn’t just make it oGCD, shorten its cooldown slightly, and weaken the %damage of the bonus shot(s) accordingly.
There, the “absurd burst” variance is removed while the skill retains its relative potency and would even feel smoother.
As little as 50% damage on the bonus shot(s), 30s CD, oGCD? Would still feel great; though it’d have lower maximal burst in an ideal setup, it’d be more responsive and a seemingly even more integral feature of the spec. Win-win.
- Ideally, also put it on a choice node with some passive means of similar effect for those who want less “button bloat” in PvE.
Monks are going to get crazier with the raid set bonus too. It’s insane.
For those confused by the Salvo change, it’s now an ability you just macro to Volley and forget about.
Whether its on the GCD or not is itself a tuning lever and a way to influence builds and relative recuperation of downtime.
Being oGCD literally saves a GCD. While a filler GCD isn’t worth much, it’s still something.
By not having it on the GCD, they’re free to make it that little bit stronger, and make it so there’s no real cost when you couldn’t have had uptime anyways (such as in pre-fight casts, during Camouflage, while LoSing all enemies, etc.).
Cool. Sounds better than how it currently functions, at least. I’d rather Multi-shot not be barred in any trash fight that goes slightly over 45s but isn’t worth popping Salvo again on.
Yikes! They really don’t have a clue. Seriously don’t think I’ll ever bother with BGs again with this change.
Double tap was most certainly played in PvE, if that’s what you’re saying?
It being on GCD wasn’t a problem in PvE, generally.

Hunters overall aren’t necessarily good, even with double tap pressure.
Just giving us blanket nerfs is definitely questionable, especially since the entire playerbase has been begging for mobility and utility for years.
They should’ve compensated damage, but instead just removed an ability. WTF

Yeah I mean this is true for sure but traditionally double tap is balanced weaker than other burst buttons like enhance/ele, rogue, etc. It’s an already interruptable nuke, whether they cast aimed shot and you can see the buff on them before it goes off… or on the rapid fire which can be stopped mid dmg. Having it off global lets it be more demand when needed.
It’s not even OP in PvP. Enhance shamans do the dmg of double tap rapid fire WITH the 20% bonus dmg of trueshot on demand in pvp with just stacks and not on any cooldowns. It’s also interruptable where as enh isn’t. Same with rogue and monk burst being way higher than double tap on a min cooldown.
I mean, rsham can hit 100k lightning bolts… not on a min cooldown either.
Hunters have the worst self healing in the game, and cooldowns are way too long on defensives. They’re supposed to be glass cannon but even with double tap, only has the cannon part once a min.
