I brushed off my mage alt and something that’s been happening consistently to be a problem is my ‘blink’ ability double-casts. I have it hot-keyed and I’m not a clicker (no hate) and I’m not spamming the button by any means. I hit it once and my mage - every time - blinks twice and it’s getting me in trouble with packs.
Anyone know how to stop this? I’ve reassigned the hotkey and that doesn’t resolve it and I would guess I may need a macro but didn’t know for sure.
You sure you don’t have shimmer talented? Blink only has 1 cast so I don’t see how you’d be blinking twice at once.

Exactly. Not sure why my previous reply bugged…
I’ve seen other people mention in the past that sometimes you can bind a key to activate on keydown AND keyup (possibly through an addon - I’ve never done it myself). This effectively means you’d cast the spell when you press the key and again when you release it. You wouldn’t notice it on most spells thanks to the GCD, but shimmer is an obvious exception.
Yeah, ‘shimmer’ technically, but still blink all the same in my eyes lol. Tomato, tomahto. 
I’ve been trying to figure out macros but it’s definitely double-casting if I don’t click-cast (which isn’t intuitive to me.)
Untalent Shimmer and you will no longer be able to double-blink. That should solve your problem.
Hmmm, I use shimmer and have never had this double blink issue. And yes it is hot keyed. Are you mashing the key?
I’m pretty sure you have hold down button casting enabled. You should try disabling it and the problem should be fixed with that.

I’ve become pretty deliberate on tapping the key once and it still double-casts.
I like to have the ability to have a second blink/shimmer – I just want to cast it when I want to - not back-to-back. However, I already retalented for now because I can’t seem to get it to single-cast as intended.
I have bound 2 shimmer macros, one I can spam and it only uses 1 charge and 1 I can cast twice. I don’t have the spam-able one right now, but I think it was a cast sequence with arcane languages.
I had this problem too, not spamming, just clicking and it would go twice.
Created a very simple macro

/cast Shimmer
/stopspellcast
No more double blinks
