I would have liked to see this dungeon remain as it was or even buffed but kept out of the m+ pool. Clearing the sand by killing mobs and sneaking through the gauntlet are really fun ideas that just don’t translate well to a timed mode.
In Rise you get half of your total % in 5-6 minutes then spend the rest of the dungeon pulling inefficient trash inbetween RP and travel time. The dungeon was really cool on release but putting it in m+ really sours the experience and made it frustrating.

Dungeon design is so constrained now due to M+. Class design as well. WoW will never be fun again for the masses until they jettison this mode out of the game, or regulate it back to challenge modes.

I think the first half is pretty decent for m+ but I avoid Rise like the plague.
Amen. It’s like they took the worst part of dungeons, the part everyone loathed in wrath and said “This is the way forward”. WoW was never Diablo, yet they thought adding Torment mode was smart.
Hell, the problem isn’t even the affixes and the Torment mode increasing keys, it’s the timer.

Wow has basically become a M+ simulator. I’m not exaggerating when I say this, too.

It really isn’t at all, the issue is just the WoW devs forcing things like the new megadungeon into it. Dawn did not have to be put into M+, they could have left the dungeon pre-nerf and just scaled the mobs and loot without a problem.
There is a lot of cool items and rewards that players would go into the dungeon for even if it wasn’t a perpetually grindable M+ instance.
you act like dungeons haven’t been mostly linear since tbc.

Dungeon design being fairly linear 3-5 boss affairs has been the standard since TBC.
Mega dungeons being 8 bosses has been a break from the norm, and only existed since Mythic+ has existed.
Shout out to Halls of Origination for being the lone exception.
And even in classic it’s clear the short linear dungeons are the most popular. There is a reason scarlet Monestary is infinitely more popular than gnomergan even for alliance when they are designed to be mirrors of each other (mid level dungeons next to a capitol city). SM is broke up into short wings while Gnomer is not.
Also, what do you think will improve for “the masses” if mythic+ disappeared tomorrow?
and even then, i remember a lot of skipping bosses there

Isnt that the point of the delves next expansion?
We got 4 times the amount of dungeons then, too.
dungeons took a lot less work back then, both art wise and mechanically
so many copy paste hub dungeons
Yeah, I love the first half of the dungeon but damn that second half…
The rise bosses were annoying without scaling added ontop of it. Tyr is decent but tbh I just found the other 3 annoying.
