Dont use private servers to judge classic

Private servers are tailored versions of vanilla, and Classic will be too. I don’t really think that’s up for debate.

They also recently announced they are closing vanilla but then opening a TBC server (SURPRISE)!

Turns out the money they make on donations and the like is a liiiiiiiiiiiittle too good to give up for integrity’s sake alone… So much for “We are only pirating because Blizzard won’t give us legacy servers”. Time to move the goalposts brothers.

Link to this announcement, please?

im not really worried about their integrity. they offered a game that blizzard didnt so i played it

you kind of have to accept that private servers are somewhat shady when you play on one

DId you not even read all the comments? You didn’t.

Yeah the devs even said there are no such plans in that thread. This is false info. I don’t see anything official about it either. And why would they? There’s a chance Blizzard will create additional TBC and wotlk retro servers down the road. Then they are in the same situation.
The TBC servers out there right now are sunwell and netherwing. I hear that they are totally unstable, toxic and low pop.

Of course values are different in private servers. But who cares? For all that matters Classic WoW was wrong since Blizz has neglected its hardcore fanbase for 7+ years. F em. They have taken away our fun. Some guy’s vritual machine in his basement offers a better WoW experience than this multi-billion dollar corporation. I am going to use private servers to compare Classic because that’s what Blizzard should have done 5+ years ago. Private servers>Acti/Blizz.

I am giving classic the benefit of the doubt here, it is being made by the same people who worked on vanilla and they are still to this day dedicated and passionate about the project… that goes a long way in my book. They are one of us.

That said I think private servers are useful approximations on vanilla, but as per the last article they have a working 1.12.1 internal build running official code they are using for reference.

I don’t think they said a majority of the reports were pserver things but they did say a lot of people did report stuff like warlock pets disappearing while summoning a new pet (from live?) and they double checked the original code on items like that. The also talked about lighting and confirmed that people are remembering it wrong.

Nearly all of us. Like… nearly every single one of us cares about that accuracy. You are in the minority for not caring.

Like we said above. Enjoy your buggy inaccurate private servers, but we ain’t going back to that.

nah you are over estimating how much people care about things being a little off

its not a big deal at all, and there are thousands on ND right now

No, there were many things wrong in the Classic Demo that Vanilla pservers are right about.

Example: The Classic Demo had 200% base spell crit damage, which was a Mists of Pandaria change. Vanilla pservers have the correct 150% baseline. 200% is only supposed to be obtained via talents for most spells. This was immediately noticeable in the Demo because Priest Smites were critting for double damage, as were Mage spells. The Priest Smite animation was also not the original.

There were + Crit “of the Tiger” green items that dropped, which is obviously wrong. An “of the Tiger” item should have Str and Agi, and +Crit items shouldn’t even be dropping at those low levels.

The health and mana regen seemed way too high, and mobs seemed too weak in general. In Barrens, I watched a 2 man group (shaman + warrior) chain pull and kill multiple higher level mobs back to back without needing to eat/drink. In Westfall, I saw a level 15 solo kill a level 19 whirlwind elemental, which is just ludicrous.

A subtle example: the Field of View was different in the Classic Demo compared to Vanilla pservers, which is what resulted in so many (incorrectly) guessing that the run speed was sped up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UldcyRGzB2g

Also, Summoning Stones were working and could port people.
