Don’t understand the appeal of Classic. Is it because people want to relive their high schools days or something?
The game has changed a lot since 2004, or even since 2008 when WotLK came out.
Not everybody thinks the changes have made the game better. Some people think the old version of the game was better.
There is really nothing more to it than that.
Can you play pre-Cata old world, in Retail?
Don’t worry about it.
Then it’s not for you
What is the attraction general forums on here has towards making thread after thread asking about why people bother playing classic or how they don’t “get” classic.
man if you wanna play classic go play classic
if you don’t, great news it costs you nothing not to play classic
It’s something to do during this time of nothing before Dragonflight.
i mean its nostalgia and its a diff change of pace to reg. wow. especially when you are at the end of retail expansion or just like to play both games lol. why is it always one or the other lol.
it’s cool to see people die in pvp. they took that out of retail at some point.
i have fun smashing stuff on my frost dk tyrmaul in classic. i had fun smashing ksm out first time evr on my hunter dainbane in s4 retail. and i have fun on my mage all through retail and will through early dragonflight lol
For me it’s just a fun side show that I get to log in once a week, kill every single raid boss, get some nice loot and log off. Mostly using it as an opportunity to play with friends from other guilds where our times don’t align well for main retail raid.
I’m not sure if I notice it more since I am older and it’s always been a thing, or if it’s becoming more common. Have people always centered themselves on everything?
Not everything is about you or for you to get, OP. Find what is right for you, and maybe don’t criticize what’s right for others.
The game was fun back then. Easy.
Well, a long time ago, people used to play games to achieve items instead of just paying for them. These people still exist today.
Every once in a while, I’ll dig out my old consoles and do a full replay of old RPG games like Ocarina of Time or Majora’s Mask. The quality of those games still feel good to play, even in the year 2022.
For Classic and it’s expansions, they were successful for a reason. There’s many other people logging in looking to either experience it for the first time or replay it. So, maybe it’s a bit of nostalgia or maybe they just like how it plays.
I was originally into Classic but it attracted negative elements, and Blizzard’s release schedule and creative and business decisions gave it the same stigma as Retail, thus I like to call it Retail 2.0. Private server communities remained more wholesome and gave me the feelings I had back in the day.
Unfortunately, old school WoW is tedious without someone to play with. I guess that makes it realistic and immersive in a way, except that the tedium come from this silly questing experience they made you go through.
So, I just stick to Retail now. Actual Retail, that is. Maybe Classic Retail being slightly different is enough for people to go play that instead, but not for me.
relive your high school days wasted playing wow
I did understand it, but the appeal clashes with the current style of the playerbase WoW currently carries. As well it clashing with the developers being totally up their own backsides with how they think it should be run instead of letting it just be authentic.
This sums it up. With the game changing every expansion it’s natural for there to be people who prefer the game to stay the way it was. I prefer the way it plays now, but that’s me.
I never saw pre-cata wow with a late legion day 1 wow start.
and some class stuff is much better here.
blizzard cannot be forgiven for taking away combat rogue. Outlaw was (all them posters get those taking shot gifs ready) a slap to the face.
3.3.5 DK is a blast too.
Now I liked seal swapping classic/tbcc more than wrath removing but I seem to be the minority there of that one. wrath and retail lacking it…its kind of a boring rotation.
but…I will take wrath pally setup over retail holy power combo point any day of the week really.
