Don't timegate The Earthen quest please

they will be DoA for a lot of peps

They already are. But that’s the nature of AR.

Just like pandas! Ya flubbed it blizz. You already did this story, and you’re doing it worse.

Yeah… I guess a lot of people will be so excited for the third cheap dwarf recolor. xD

Pandaren weren’t an Allied Race. So they had a full starter zone, began at level 1, had unique rigs and we chose our side after the starter zone storyline.

ARs were meant to be easy reskins we earned through story and rep to join us at a higher level with a few little perks as a reward for playing through the current content.

KT broke that mold by being a unique model + rig and threw that entire argument out the window.

So now I just give up on the entire concept and just accept the nonsense thst is Blizzard. lol

Which is why it’s worse.

It’s a larger dwarf that I just can’t bring myself to care about, tbh. lol

I was excited for them until recently.
Then they changed their faces to be reskins of the normal dwarf faces.
Problem being normal dwarf faces are absolutely hideous imo
So now that they made earthen ugly… im out :stuck_out_tongue:

“These are going to be earned simply by completing the War Within campaign fully, there’s no rep to grind here, nothing else beyond that” - Ion Blizzcon 2023, 33:00 minute timestamp in the War Within Deep Dive panel on the official Warcraft YouTube

we didn’t know there would be more until April 30th when Alpha testers uncovered an Achieve, and through the level 80 splash panel uncovered yesterday

Allied Races were announced as a box feature of Battle for Azeroth on November 3rd, 2017.

Early access to Highmountain, Void Elves, Lightforged, and Nightborne was offered with the prepurchase of BfA on January 30th, 2018. But there wasn’t a single minute of the game you could access this feature without BfA

A thousand pardons, if you didn’t preorder Battle for Azeroth , BfA launched with 6 Allied Races (can provide archives of “Recruit early with pre -order!” If you’re forgetting) You did get me on the two that came in 8.1.5 though

Really can’t understand this bizarre “GOTCHA” about semantics lol, especially since you’re wrong. All information up until this point said, not paraphrasing, that we just had to beat the campaign and we’d have the Earthen, which the crowd went wild for by the way.

I guess props to you for realizing that Ion was lying 6 months ago but to the rest of us, including alpha testers, this is new and upsetting info

Pepperidge Farms remembers, but I think Blizz would rather players forget

Yep. This was pretty disappointing. The shapes and faces were supposed to be slightly different. We get none of that.

So full campaign, no rep. You do know full campaigns give achievements and AR were always earned by achievements, right?

And released in 7.3.5, because 4 of them were Legion races.

The first four allied races were recruited as a direct result of the events of Legion, originating from the Broken Isles and Argus. Another four are part of the story in Battle for Azeroth. Allied races are not a Battle for Azeroth-exclusive feature, however.[3]

Not exactly, considering we needed to complete the War Campaign for two of them and the War Campaign could not be completed on day one all at once.

So four races were added in 7.3.5, two were added in 8.0.1, but couldn’t be acquired until the campaign was finished.

This also doesn’t mean much of anything, so I don’t even know what point you were trying to make with it.

In order to unlock any of them, they required achievements, campaigns and rep.

… there was none? What?

And guess what you get when you finish a full campaign? An achievement.

I just know AR are never quickly unlocked, because they never have been. No one lied from what I can tell. Unless you’re telling me that achievement is more than the campaign we need to finish for their story.

looks around

Are y’all new here or something? AR were never given immediately to anyone.

Pandaren weren’t an Allied Race.

I always found the whole allied race needing to be unlocked thing to not be a great mechanic.

Yeah it makes some sense story wise but it still sucked when I wanted to play a void elf but needed to play an entirely different character in order to even have access to that.

I feel like character creation options that are unlocked in gameplay should consist of things you can go to the barbershop and use on the character you unlocked them on. Not “I need to play my Paladin so I can play my Mage 2 weeks from now”.

Lmao I just reread my OP to make sure I wasn’t nuts but nope, makes perfect sense. Right there in the very first few sentences:

That means the leveling campaign, not after level 80 right?

An achievement (still with me?) for AFTER YOU HIT LEVEL 80. which previously outright denied by the game lead

I don’t know how I can be much clearer than this but yes, absolute lie if more content whatsoever to be completed after 80.

My whole point behind mentioning BfA is that their handling of these was a gigantic mistake they should learn from, and your came back with some weird “uHm AkTUalLy” about dates (crazy doubling down on being wrong btw, quick Google search with hundreds of sources lists Allied Races as a BfA feature including the trailer). Super cringe to preorder an xpac then acting like that’s the game for most people

You’re just a fellow WoW player and I definitely trust Ion’s words more than yours so it’s a bummer if he tricked us. Lying and backpedaling isn’t cool, and I’m not sure why you’re fighting so hard for pro-break-your-word-and-disappoint-people-because-tradition

When will you guys learn that Blizzard actually hates their communities/players and has already planned to make this easier in 11.2?

I suppose that depends on how long the campaign is? I hit level 70 before I finished the campaign. And the deep dive never said “leveling campaign.”

I don’t see how it was denied? All it said was campaign. It never said “before you finish leveling,” did it?

And your actual quote was the following:

The specific quote is “just by playing through the campaign FULLY.” It doesn’t say “leveling” anywhere in that deep dive.

But it’s not.

Defining how things were isn’t whatever condescending dismissal you’re attempting here.

Show me where there’s a lie or backpedaling.

I’m not fighting. I’m giving information and explaining.

You can listen to it yourself, he never says “leveling”.

Skip to 33 minutes if it doesn’t go there.

He says “These are going to be earned just by playing through the War Within campaign fully”.

For those in the back…

That doesn’t mean “leveling.” And every campaign fully completed gives an achievement.

So unless someone can point to me where this achievement contains more than the campaign FULLY, I don’t see how we’re claiming anyone lied or backpedaled.

this part guarantees your post is incorrect. Even if it’s time gated people will unlock it and play it. I won’t. But people will.

Can’t you just play the mage and then race change?

Yeah, we know that, the point is that maybe these guys should have just been a new race that we can play at release like Dracthyr were. Making them an allied race is just a cheap cop out to make them a time gate mechanic which is extremely silly IMO.

You could, but I don’t consider paid services to be much of an excuse.

It should just let you make the new race from the start. That’s how it used to be and it worked really well back then.
