Listen I’m gonna keep this short and sweet.
You wanna time gate everthing thats fine.
Lock the story and zones behind arbitrary barriers if thats what you guys really wanna do.
Don’t time gate my pearls bro. Let them drop off mobs or gathered in the zone timeless coin style.
If I wanna sit here and kill tens of thousands of naga to farm a 425 set until you guys lift these silly constraints 2-3 weeks down the road then I should be able to.
Beyond a handful of dailies you gave players zero incentive to log in every day.
Let us atleast farm and grind to gear mains or alts.
i have incentive to log in cuz the game is fun thats why i play games because their fun if a game is not fun i dont play it see how that works ? we all play this game cuz we love it and if we did not we would just find a diffrent game to play . we all have our own opinins on how the game works for the best but we have to know that others have diffrent opinions then our own anyway . so lets talk about what we do enjoy and blizzard will read that and sort it out for us the best that they can do .
They give us maximum incentive to log in every single day. The gating is such that you’re punished for not finding the 60-90 minutes to complete your chore list every single day.
What you actually want is the incentive to log in and do content like this (pearls) at your own pace. Blizzard has doubled, tripled and quadrupled down on the fact they’re hell-bent on never allowing you the means to grind out anything of actual value out. You’ll hit 415 when they determine it, you’ll hit 430, and 445 when they determine it.
It’s 100% of the reason this game hasn’t been able to recapture the magic it once had, and for some reason they don’t acknowledge this.
Better than RNG upgrade to Heroic imo. Still not great though lol.
This person is smart and understands what is happening
Blizzard doesn’t want to be seen to “promote” unhealthy ways to play the game. That’s why they did it with reps back in the day and they continued on with currency etc.
They want you to have a cap so you can’t just “no life” it, instead you are encouraged to play the game more frequently to fulfil their set objectives.
The game, and genre - for that matter, are better when this choice is available to you.
Grind your pearls by farming mobs til your eyes bleed, or grind them over a month long period by doing your WQ’s in Nazjatar.
What people actually mean by this statement is “I don’t want other people to get better rewards than me by playing the game more than me”, and it’s exactly the reason this game has been a dumpster fire. It’s not a coincidence that the biggest boon to WoW in the past 5 years has been a mode that allows players to play at their own pace, and rewards players wanting to play more/at harder difficulties with significant loot at a significant pace. (M+).
But its not raid gear, its a step below raid gear. Nor is it optimized to be on par with raid gear.
If it was farmable I would imagine you would be one of the same people not inviting anyone who isnt 425ilvl to your raid because they didn’t take the time to grind it out lul
I think people also conveniently forget the massive complaints Timeless Isle had … ergo the changes kiddos. Not everything is catered to the dearest of hearts.
The game is in serious need of meaningful grinds. Timegating really sucks the life out of the game. The whole idea that every player must be on an equal level while playing an MMORPG is insane to me. If people want to no life grind before the changes a few weeks from now, let them have it. Those who want to play the game more should be rewarded for doing so.
Fortunately this is the one thing Blizzard hasn’t crumbled on for some reason. That being said though gear is more akin to reputation these days than what it was when lockouts initially were invented.
Before you could grind base level gear to your hearts content and get ready for the next progression of content which would be time consuming.
These days pretty much 90% of the gear is “available” but kept mostly restricted so that you can’t “binge” on it, so you keep coming back for more.
The only difference to this is the current M+ design which allows the best gear to be farmed ad infinitum.
That ship has sailed a long time ago, no matter what Blizz does, people will still complain, we’ve gone through this cycle since the dawn of time (lol)
The “Raid lockout” argument always comes up when timegating does, and it never fits. The game was exactly as I described from Vanilla to Cataclysm, and it managed to become an absolute behemoth during that timeframe.
Also, We’re not talking about grinding out the best loot in the game. Raiding is more than just “grinding loot”, it’s progression, it’s playing well, it’s playing badly, it’s deciding to extend or reset, there’s more that goes into it.
But Johnny Hammersticks wanting to get a set of 415 gear which is 20+ ilvls below any of that stuff and is completely inconsequential in the actual scheme of things? He should be able to do so.
