Game is fine, which is why everyone here remembers enjoying it so much
No, its not just nostalgia. The quality of player was so much better back then, and I dont mean their dps
sounds like somebody needs a new server. the people on my server are great, we have a great community and I’m having a great time.
So you mean the backpedaling, keyboard turning, clicking? or the 14 yr olds getting in arguments in barrens chat?
I don’t think this is true.
People are the same
ITT: the people I’m talking about
Even those 14 year olds are better than what we currently have in /4 and /world
OP is confusion
Naw dude. People are people no matter where you go. There were bad apples back then too. I’m not saying we haven’t changed, but the game certainly has as well.
More specifically, the company behind it.
Activision =/= Blizzard.
The player base was trash back then too.
The reason it stands out so much is because servers are way bigger.
People are people, they’re always the same.
The only poll I know of in 2005 (Nick Yee) pegged the average age of WoW player at 28. They described themselves as “fulltime Uni students, Adult employed fulltime, and Parents in families”. Also according to one of Yee’s studies, 84 percent of WoW players were male, 16 percent female, with the female players being a few years older, at that time. I’d say the female percentage has increased as time has gone by.
This part is debatable, but yeah, the crowd sure has changed and not for the better.
It is a wonderful sentiment, that problems can be blamed solely on individuals. It satisfies our inborn fierce egalitarianism to call to account cheaters and those who refuse to contribute their share. But reality is much different, and must be acknowledged. We need to address the systemic reality, as well as focus on the individual. You cannot exclude either.
So the game is the issue and not the player base?
Do go on
If you intend to intentionally misread my next post as well, it would be a waste of breath.
Name one issue with the game that wasn’t present in vanilla
Only big ones are
-spell batching
-naxx-scaled dungeon gear
-not using the original AV map
-CRBG
-larger server pop
I’m honestly curious to hear anything you might want to add to this list, because as far as I can tell everything else comes down to the playerbase
Now elaborate on how these few changes could lead to such a different gaming environment, rather than it being caused by the nugamer e-sports wannabes
Just because it comes down to the playerbase, which I’d likely agree with, that doesn’t mean it isnt a systemic issue rather than individual, or that the solution would best be an individual one. I’ve little knowledge of the issue beyond rumors on the forums and so wouldnt dare venture a solution.
