I have a pretty good grasp at speaking the language. Spelling is whole other ball game. I think a lot of my problem when it comes to spelling is I donât hear the word correctly. The other is the rules were never constant, so inconstant at a very young age I decided to hell with this. Looking back I should have tried harder and trying to make up for it now.
edit: On spelling I never really had to so it was not so bad really. The last bunch of years Iâve had to write so Iâm playing catch up now.
As a kid I never had an issue with spelling and made it to the regional spelling bee numerous times (and would always get some ridiculous a$$ word while the next guy gets something easy like machismo)
As an adult I get that âthis word looks weirdâ feeling regularly, as if it were in a different language and the symbols look weird. Im not sure what happened
If it wasnât for spell check Iâd make even more mistakes.
For the people who have to point out spelling, grammar errors about othersâŚtheyâve just got nothing else to say, I guess.
I havenât noticed any grammar/spelling Naz1s in forever. I am notorious for forgetting to proofread before hitting post and often times edit after someone has responded and kindly ignored my blatant typos.
I dont mind people correcting me! I enjoy learning how to spell a word for the 500050th time, its just people who get like mad at me and say bad things ya know.
I donât hate on those who struggle, but it does bother me when I see stuff like âqueâ for queue, or the usual âtheir/thereâ instead of âtheyâreâ.
Meh, just havr to havr thik skin and tell them to go jumo in a lakeâŚi speak 4 languageâs and read and write 3 of them almost FluentlyâŚ
And English is not my native tongueâŚ
Some times the spelling âword that cant be used on fourmsâ are too muchâŚbut thats the nature of the internetâŚ
50% are a smelly hole where the sun does not shine
People who resort to correcting grammar and spelling are usually one of two types.
OCD about it, so they cant help themselves. Usually non confrontational about it.
those with no real argument who are trying to deflect from that fact and like those with low self esteem, use anything they can to build themselves up emotionally, usually by insulting others for petty crap like spelling errors.
I think it is ironic when people go grammar nahtzi (yes I know it is spelled wrong on purpose) when we live in a society where communication via electronic devices it condensed down to LOL WTF G2G TTYL and various other acronyms instead of actual words.
