Dont forget to watch Wheel of Time today on Amazon prime.
“Set in a world in which a select group of women have access to magical powers, but men can’t tap into it without going insane and dying. At the dawn of time, a deity known as the Creator forged the universe and the Wheel of Time, which spins the Pattern of the Ages using the lives of men and women as its threads. The Wheel has seven spokes, each representing an age, and it is rotated by the One Power, which flows from the True Source”

I’ll skip it, after I saw what it was about.

As a fan of the books, I’m sure I will, but I have to say that I paused after the intro speech, since they got much, even most, of it wrong.
The world was broken, now it’s more…underdeveloped.
Lews Therin was certainly arrogant, but he didn’t fail to cage darkness, he succeeded. That’s kind of the point. If he and others hadn’t, there’d be no present story to tell. And that’s leaving out exactly who let the darkness out in the first place…
Everyone, not just the surviving Aes Sedai, remembers Lews Therin. He was kind of a big deal. And he was named Dragon long before the Breaking.
And I may be forgetting the first book, but absent very particular intervention, I don’t think he would be reborn as a girl. And the assertion that he’s been reborn at all was hardly universal even among Aes Sedai.
Since it seems Moiraine is the narrator, that last point might be forgiven since it’s from her perspective and knowledge, but she should know better for the rest of it. And I get that they’re trying to simplify some things for a show that I understand is already overstuffed, but I think that a little more accuracy could have been just as succinct and a better background to boot.
Anyway, just an annoyance right off the bat.
I’m a sucker for CGI. I know the story diverges a lot from the books, but w/e. It’s still better than what happened to Sword of Shannara
