It never went away on pservers.
Until you get a spam of 30+ grats within 0.1 seconds of you saying ding and realized everyone in your guild is using the auto-grats addon

I only gratz when someone makes max level. Anything else seems silly and pointless.

I still did it while levelling in the rare occasion I saw it, through all the expacs. But its so rare to see as well as have anyone make mention.
Why pointless? They made a milestone. Be happy for them!
Best is to do it with an addon, that once it reads “ding” in G chat wil automatically say: “gz”
On live I have leveled… I’m not sure, I have more than 30 toons level 80 or higher, so we’ll call it 3000 to 3500 times. Even a grats at 120 is pointless now. That’s just the beginning of a long gear grind, not a single piece of which feels rewarding. So yes, on live it is completely silly and pointless. I don’t think I’ve said it in years.
Playing the beta however, even just the little I was able to during the stress test, each level felt meaningful again. It caused me to remember how much of an accomplishment it felt like back in the day. We got a precious Talent Point at every level. +1% crit felt so good. And we got an extra super special awesome ability every 10 levels. It felt amazeballs.
I don’t know man, I think grats will make a comeback in Classic. I know I will be doling them out again.
Grats at 40 and 60. Do you really need a pat on the back for achieving what comes naturally over time precious snowflake? save it for the milestone levels
In Classic, every level is a milestone. At the least it’s a meaningful accomplishment. I mean, it’s certainly not OMG, but it’s not nothing like it is now. I think a Classic level is worthy of a gratz: every one. It’s not a snowflake thing. It has nothing to do with the emotionality of the person leveling, its how meaningful a level is.

Maybe you don’t. I’m happy you don’t, but that doesn’t mean that’s not what you were trying to do. Self-assess a little and analyze the tenor of your response. It’s what you did man, even if it wasn’t a conscious decision on your part.
Gratz in the post. Make sure you say ding because you will when you are lvl 50 pushing for lvl 51.
