Don't fall for /afk in BGs!

So, this happened today… I wasn’t aware that people can trick you into instant kicking yourself from battlegrounds. I had just waited twenty minutes to join one epic battleground and am currently waiting on a new one… of course, I also had to wait an extra fifteen minutes for the deserter debuff to time out, and now I have the pleasure of sitting for at least another twenty minutes before I can get back in. Please do something about this… I get that people who really are afk are a nuisance, but pranks like this aren’t funny. It’s a waste of time, especially since I don’t want to be there in the first place.

“[10:19 PM] 15 players have joined the battle.
[10:19 PM] Hugepepetank-Tichondrius has reported you AFK. Please type /afk to cancel.
[10:19 PM] You are now Away: AFK
[10:19 PM] Your group has been disbanded.
[10:19 PM] You have been removed from the group.”

then why queue?

Wrong, they’re definitely funny. 2x as funny when the victim is so titled by it that they drop a paragraph in the forums.

Ok… check this out OP. My demon hunter was Prestige 25 last expansion and I fell for it, then I rage pst’d the person “Why did you report me afk?!”.

It doesn’t get much more embarrassing than that

Ah, you fell for the classic trick.

Some helpful tips for you: read mage portal tooltips clearly before clicking them, and if a dark iron drill thing appears when you’re grouped with people don’t click it.

I have to do it for the Christmas quests sadly… =/… Also, I didn’t click any portals, I just /afked, because I fell for it like a huge dork. I also did message the guy saying that I wasn’t afk. I finally got in another one, but the alliance insta killed my poor gnome self. I stayed and we won, but I have to wait again. What a day…

Whats even more Ha Rarius is when unsuspecting people click on a mage portal to somewhere exotic like, Dalaran Crater! I wouldn’t know anything about that though.

it’s a learning tool, you’re not going to fall for it again and you’ve discovered the easy out button
