I’m not creating this post to be a jerk I’m just trying to understand why people want to see wotlk brought back. BC and classic I understand, wrath just doesn’t make sense to me. Can anyone explain what about wrath specifically they enjoy?
the best thing about wrath was Naxx and you can do the real Naxx in Classic.
Because Wrath has some of the best lore ever in game and the best raids ever.
Wintergrasp was awesome. All raids having a 10 man mode was awesome (the loot differences and lockouts are not as awesome). Storyline was good professions werent a total pile of garbage.
Ulduar was awesome, that’s about it.
Good luck doing Trial of Crusader 4 times a week again.
I understand BC. But wotlk sucked. dungeons were nothing but aoe zerg fest and introduced automatic-dungeon finder! Anything that introduced the automatic dungeon finder I can’t support…I did like the group finder in BC but that’s it. I did like the zones in wotlk and some of the raids were okay.
I want classic to stay classic.
Having said that WotLK is the time I remember having the most fun playing this game. Classes/specs have been ironed out for the most part without being reworked to much, and it’s the only expansion where I’ve cared about, or even payed attention too, the story. Also heroics.
But ultimately for me not wanting flying, dual spec, or feeling like I have to do the same raid on 4 modes every week outweighs the reason I loved WotLK
Second on TBC. If TBC was a 10 for me, wrath was a like a 9-9.5. Still really good. Cata was a 6. RIP.
I don’t get it either. It introduced nearly everything people say they hate. All I can think is people really, really like Arthas, and the game wasn’t so completely ruined that Classes retained some semblence of uniqueness.
Having said that Wrath was when we got 4 difficulty settings of the same raid. This, for me, turned Raiding from an epic venture to the end, into a grind fest.
Wrath introduced LFD, it dumbed down dungeons and turned them into grind fests over group accomplishments, it invalidated its own content with content patches ruining any sense of progression, it had one of the worst Raids with ToGC to date, seeing Arthas felt like a let down because of overuse of catchup mechanics, over nerfing, and difficulty settings making it so nearly anyone can see him. It wasn’t an epic journey, it was mostly handed to you.
I really dont get it either OP. This was the end of WoW in many ways for me when I realized this game wasn’t ever going to offer the excitement of Vanilla and BC. Its when the game finally descended into the madness of catering to your Grandma on medication for dementia.
Icercown Citadel never felt like the main bastion of the LK. For me it is lacking the atmosphere, Naxx was a lot better at it, if Naxx was chosen as the seat of LK it would feel a lot more appropriate.
Why do you play a class that shoots laser beams 90% of the time? We all like our own thing
What about death knights!!!
I dont care what anyone says, Ulduar was hands down the best raid WoW ever created.
ICC was a lot of fun too.
Wrath just progressed very well and the classes were polished. Likely a lil too polished for some but it was very well designed.
Northrend was a fantastic continent to explore. Professions were still relevant and not as narrow. Dungeons were fun but still challenging.
It had its pit falls. After ICC dropped it was a major content drought with the final raid seeming like an after thought (ruby sanctum). Catch up mechanics were being deployed in a variety of different ways.
The zones/story line was well developed.
Raid logging was a thing tho, unless you enjoyed alts.
The chopper bikes were fun to craft and unique at the time. It was still early in the game but by the end of wrath the game was saturated and I can see why the classic/BC die hards have no interest.
Its like any of the early releases, you had to be there. Re-releasing it will not be anything like the launch when it was fresh and undiscovered.
WotLK is a bit like polishing Classic to a mirror shine and adding a few features.
Some things were lost in that polish, but some people like what the polish and features brought more than they care about what was lost. After WotLK they started dismantling the game.
Plus, like others have said: Ulduar is the best raid in the game, and ICC is pretty fun too.
Because people enjoy WoTLK.
What sense would it make for the devs to just stop at tbc? Nothing wrong with continuing on if they see fit.
Naxx, as another poster said, was phenomenal. Metric F***TON of bosses, super early and forgiving raid, just all round fun.
Beyond that there was a great sense of a massive new world (the two beginning zones faked that well) and two VERY solid zones, the redwood forest and snowy mountains.
Beyond that I couldn’t name a feature or zone or quest that stood out to me.
Vehicle mechanics were an absolute S***SHOW the entire time, even at the very end being only barely tolerable.
Lots of insta-death mechanics which annoy me greatly.
I always liked people jumping in my chopper. As a pally i would drive off Dalaran and bubble lol.
Yes I was one of those guys.
This could well be true, and Wrath may well have been a beginning of the end for the things we all loved about WoW, however it wasn’t all at once, and there were still things about Wrath that were amazing.
I think also, a lot of us (at least me) sort of had our WoW coming-of-age during Wrath. That was when I started putting serious effort in, tried out for and got into a high-rated raiding guild, and also the expansion where I started feeling comfortable tanking.
Prior to dungeon finder, and the reward bags that included mounts for tanking, I farmed the white bear mount on my warrior and a death knight.
Best lore in the series.
Northrend is the best zone in the series.
Lich King is the best antagonist in the series.
Best set of talents in the series.
I’m not a big fan of dailies in general, but I found Dalaran dailies to be super fun.
Personally, I really got into WoW during WotLK so my fondest time playing the game was at this time.
LOVED running ICC raid.
Wrath was fine until 3.2 for the most part. And even then the issue was more about LFD than the content.
The only things I really hated about it otherwise were non progressive raids, and the welfare epics. By the time I was a geared 80 ready to try my first raid, the only thing being run was Ulduar. There were no incentives to run anything other than the newest raid, and that bothered me a lot.
