Domino Effect

When players purchase WOW Tokens with cash, the token value decreases. Conversely, when they buy WOW Tokens with gold, the token value increases.

  1. Prior to the Brutosaur release, token values were relatively low and stable due to certain bugs and class imbalances.
  2. With low token prices, players could easily afford them for game balance and monthly subscriptions.
  3. Because players could afford tokens, there was little cash flow being generated.
  4. The Brutosaur was introduced with a price equivalent to that of the entire game or expansion.
  5. This caused players converting their gold into tokens to buy the Brutosaur.
  6. The influx of gold being exchanged for tokens drove up the token value, and resulting a gold sink for players.
  7. As a result, players are harder to afford tokens since their gold was diminished and token values had increased.
  8. Consequently, players had to resort to using cash for subscriptions and balance, which generated real profit for the game.
  9. Additionally, some players may choose to use cash for the Brutosaur due to insufficient gold, further contributing to the game’s profit.

It’s worth noting that it’s actually more profitable for Blizzard if we buy everything with tokens instead of straight cash, cause they take a cut before it hits the other account.

I can buy a token for $25 CAD, but I only get $22 CAD for redeeming one. Blizzard takes the difference.

Then add in that 30 days of game time is only $20 CAD. They get $25 for buying the token and give me $20 worth in return when I redeem it for game time.

Every token that is bought with gold on the AH was purchased by another player. They’re not created out of thin air, so Blizzard actually gains every time you pay gold for one.

Ironically the mount may be the thing that finally convinces me to take a break come December because I don’t really feel like actually paying for my sub again, and I would have been able to make enough gold to keep it rolling unless the price continues to rise.

You do know that someone has to actually pay cash in order to put the tokens into the AH right .

Then when someone goes to the AH to get that token the gold is then given to the person that paid cash to put it in there .

Or is this your first time here?

There is only one answer, don’t buy it… coming on here and spouting off about how bad it is, just don’t buy it… there are always gonna be weirdos that are willing to drop dollars on some expensive virtual mount or pet they want in these types games. You’ll ALWAYS lose this fight, just not worth the energy.

Inflating Q4 profits to end the fiscal year with a banger. It might be worth it to them to risk the loss of gold token subscribers.

Blizzard gets an extra $5 from the $20 token sale over your $15 subscription. More than that with discounts for buying in larger batches.

Why does it matter though? I dont understand what it is with everyone.

If you HAD to buy it or you lost access to the game then id 100% understand the anger. Its a Simple dont want it dont buy it

When will people learn companies are in business to make money? If you don’t want the mount don’t buy it. It does not affect you in any way. Just insane how people complain about a completely optional mount that you nor anyone else needs. All these posts are basically people saying “I want the mount, but I never left my parents basement to get a job to afford the mount” it’s pure jealousy over people who can buy it vs those who can’t. A previous thread literally blamed blizzard for releasing a $90 mount when people can’t afford groceries. That isn’t a blizzard problem that is a you problem.

This is seen as evil or greedy now days. How that computes? I dont know I keep adding 2 and 2 and getting 6 when I know the answer should be 4.

In other words, if a company offers products customers want, they will make more money.

As if the anniversary event wasn’t bad enough, it is now a charity event for Blizzard and a lol splurge for whales.

Yea their non-sense comes off as self-righteous prattle about how it’s a “slippery slope” and how bad it is for the game. It’s just people crying over nothing at all, complaining to complain.

thanks for your opinion, I believe you also do know this is the system they created and added into the game right? Like you can edit your own post or comment.

Translation: If any company offers any product for sale that anyone wants and is willing to buy it is a charity event and a splurge for people who work hard and earn money.
