doing timewalking ulduar and man i am amazed. That company almost 14 years ago did AMAZING AMAZING RAIDS. what happened? why dont we get the same kind of raids/raid design nowadays? that raid was really stellar. what happened?
do wee need to forget TWW like we did with shadowlands? DF was a mediocre fest also
Imagination, creativity, and developer engagement were all thrown to the wayside for player engagement dopamine cycles in the name of profit-driven gameplay loops.
looks at Ulduar looks at post looks at Ulduar looks at post blink blink
Ulduar has some cool/interesting parts (the vehicle section, the train ride, the Yoggy and Alganon fights) but for the most part it’s a slog, so glad we don’t have 15 boss raids anymore.
I like Ulduar, don’t get me wrong. It’s a raid I personally find pretty enjoyable BUT it shouldn’t have been the timewalking raid. Hands down that should have gone to ICC, as ICC is what immediately comes to mind when I think of Wrath.
It also could have been a GREAT way to introduce a frostmourne transmog into the game for people that have Shadowmourne ala the TBC blades of azzinoth transmog unlock by killing timewalking Illidan.
its only that way because you are either in one of two boats, 1) the ones who did it to death when it was new, so you are already jaded regardless how impressive it might actually be. 2) the one who was hyped to experience the thing people kept talking up but it never lives up to the expectations.
They take too freaking long. For kids that remember it, they grew up and have jobs that compete for their time. Only streamers have the time since they can job WoW. I was in my mid 30s. Now I’m just too old to commit.
Now, that’s not to say it can’t be done at all. But they’d have to cut it up into bite-size pieces for people that can’t do content that goes over an hour to 90 mins. New generation players just don’t have the desire to commit to long, epic raids.
Me, I just don’t do any of that anymore… Delves freaking changed the game for me… I love content I can leave my keyboard for and afk for a bit if I have to. If I’m going to spend 4 hours on something, I’d rather it be an in-person pencil and paper RPG.
It took me and my Classic guild roughly 3 weeks to figure out that we’re slogging through all those boring, boring encounters twice a week just for a shot at 1 item per hardmode.
And then from 2 raids it went down to 1 with extreme roster issues because neither the gameplay or the rewards could carry it anymore.
It was funny when the did #somechange to squish the gear to be similar to TOGC. Since in the first run ulduar fell off the radar for many I am told in OG wrath.
and people still ran TOGC over ulduar. Less walking simulator, more raid was more to some people’s tastes.
Except when players looted the glaives off Illidan, they looked like the ones he uses.
There’s no weapon model usable by players that looks like Frostmourne. If you’re implying they give a weapon from ICC the same treatment they gave DHs with the glaives, it would have to be Shadowmourne xmog, not Frostmourne.
Classic can never (in my opinion) live up to how good the raids were then. The game as a whole was a different beast. PCs were still sub optimal, some people had dial-up internet, the players were not as good, YouTube and guides were not as wide spread.
The biggest issue with classic is that it nostalgia can only take you do far.
