Doing M+ just feels bad

Been pushing keys around 18-20 the past couple weeks and my desire to do anymore has evaporated.

Failure rate for my groups at this level is extremely high. At minimum its a 50% chance that my groups disband by the time we’re halfway through any dungeon that isn’t CoS or SBG. Bad first pull? Someone leaves. Wipe on the 2nd or 3rd boss? Someone leaves. Wipe on last boss? - “not happening bye”.

For those that actually stick to the end together we can’t end up timing keys like HoV and AV. We wiped once or twice, or didn’t pull 3+ packs and end up 2-4 minutes behind on time. Any loot that I would get that has like a 20% chance to drop for me is below ivl to be an upgrade.

Every single time I log off trying to push these keys and encountered nothing but failure I realize that I actually have LESS TO SHOW for all those wasted hours THAN BEFORE I LOGGED ON.

I have less gold, I have no new gear, I have no additional valor past the cap, my keystone is LOWER than it was before, and I actually feel mad at myself for having wasted time trying to progress in this game with ZERO to show for that time. Literally nothing.

Flat out, this game does not respect your time when you start doing keys this level. I have a normal job and I’m realizing that I don’t want to waste hours of my limited free time to end up having LESS on my character than before I started anymore.

I want to say I like dragonflight, but this m+ season has been such a sore spot for me.

M+ just isn’t the type of gaming that is for me anymore.

its ok to reach your ceiling. next step is either accept and stop, or try more and improve.

Hmm if you are constantly failing or not timing keys think maybe odds are you aren’t just getting unlucky every key and that it is you who is underperforming

Side note I wonder why these people don’t post with the character they are playing

There’s a secret 3rd option called accept and enjoy playing at the level you’re comfortable.

that also works.

I’m noticing a lot of common themes running through the forums since this season started: it really seems like the majority of people who do run keys are not enjoying them, whether they run 10s, or 18-20+s. I’ve seen this from people who started keys this expansion and from those who had 3k+ last expansion. Whether or not these people simply need to improve, I hope Blizz takes note.

I’m fine admitting that I always have room to improve my gameplay, and that some of my own skill is holding me back from progressing higher. Absolutely.

What feels bad is actively being punished for attempting to push keys and failing.

I would actually be fine failing over and over if I had ANYTHING material gained for my character at all to show for my time invested. As of now your reward for trying to push higher its just lost gold, lost consumables, and a lower level key.

When do people come to post on the forums to say; “Nothing is wrong, game is great.”? Not very often. Of course sometimes they do but 90% of people post on the forums with some sort of issue. People think that opinions on forum posts represent the population. When it does not

I think are are several reasons and I agree to some level that a large portion of people feel this way.

The level of coordination for interrupts and mechanics seems much higher than in SL.

We basically beta tested the keys for the first 4 weeks before of the season and are still seeing nerfs; proof that there were and are still issues with dungeons.

Rewards are now further spread out between key levels with upgrades becoming more difficult to acquire past 10; spacing for ilvl increase jumps as keys get higher. This provides a large chunk of players who primarily do m+ for items rather than rating/challenge a lack of motivation.

Mechanic bloat. I’m not saying all of the dungeons are hard and not all of the mechanics bad, but having to manage affixes with the large number of required interrupts and boss mechanics has definitely gone up. It makes me despise the first few pulls of court for example.

Dodge the frontals, kill the explosives, stop the sentry, interrupt charging station, dodge another round of frontals, don’t stand in wyrm explosion, don’t stand in storming spawn, move x add before sanguine drops, kill the explosive dodge the front, match storming partner, interrupt again, dodge frontal, maybe think about dpsing. None of that feels good, and the frequency this happens in DF keys is much higher than SL.

And whatever developer has a hard on for tornadoes needs to be fired. However thematic, you do not need them everywhere.

That’s because a lot of players can’t reach the new +20 ceiling. They are blaming every external factor they can grab instead of improving their own game. 3k score in Season 3 didn’t mean much, especially if they got there at the end of the tier when they were fully equipped with +15 vault rewards.

It’s definitely a ceiling for me, no arguments there and I’m not saying make it easier.

My point with the post is that logging off after those attempts with less on my character to show than before I logged on is not a good feeling. And for me (which, yes, is only one subjective take), that feeling has stopped my desire to push my m+ higher.

If there was any material reward to show for that time, I’d probably keep doing it even though it is a very hard ceiling to get past. But to actively punish me for trying on top of taking my time…? That’s too much for me.

I read you, but my comment was more geared towards the general masses complaining about the loot being changed to +20 and the scaling in general.

Itll get nerfed eventually to a point where the playerbase is ok with it. Bigger worry is will every season start off awful like this.

I am still gearing up and PuGing since my schedule is pretty crap so I can only play on weekends so take with a grain a salt. I can see where certain timers get tight that a wipe can set yall back do to how far u walk back/how difficult the boss is (especially on Tyrannical). I can see certain bosses this expansion being pure hard blocks being very hard dps checks this expansion. I thought my friend was kidding but it is a very melee-favored season.

The amount of crap on the floor from the dungeon alone is ridiculous. I feel sorry for casters. Blizzard really made them pay for their “safety” from range. The only one that don’t suffer from this is BM hunters who can do 360 flips hitting Kill Command, Barbed Shot and Cobra Shot. And you know what? I can’t hate them for it. If Blizzard want me to focus on the bullet hell, i am going to choose a class that gives me mobility and freedom. So i can understand the frustration for a lot of people.

Just curious, have you played a caster dps this season? If so, how high? I have thoughts about why you’re so happy this season, but I’m waiting see how others feel before I draw any conclusions.

I’m very worried about next season. I’m not sure what the 4 legacy dungeons are but they better be amazing because we get the following. It could harm the m+ community in a major way if they dont balance better from the start.

Brackenhide Hollow which is going to be a nightmare.

Halls of Infusion is just terrible and that last gauntlet is going to kill so may keys

Nelththarus is fine I guess

Uldaman a 5 boss nightmare.

What does this have anything to do with their point?
