Doing Chores While the NPCs Save Azeroth: Why?

Decent way to put it, tbh

It’s just a game. Play it. Or that’s what I do at least. You pay attention to the story? I dive in, skip everything and just play. But that me.

I feel the exact opposite of what op says.

We are included in everything this expansion.

BEHOLD! I have found your serving tray, I mean Shield, it has been pretending to be your arm this entire time!!

I miss these. Would I get to use the servin…I mean shiel…I mean pooper scooper for this one?

Yup. I’m way happier being part of the team in general. No need to run around waving one of many copies of Ashbringer.

I see how it is. Now hand over the outfit!

Tldr: it’s easier and cheaper on dev to do cool stuff with one NPC, than 20 something class specs

On the one hand yes, it’d be great to be a hero and central and have all the cutscenes revolve around me. from a practical standpoint in an MMO it makes more sense to be along for the ride. There is one instance in another MMO I’ve played where the player fights. And to resolve the issues of there being a bunch of classes that fight different, it got turned into a fist fight and while it worked for my guy, I have friends whose characters it didn’t. So pushing to the side for story let’s us have our bow queen do cool trickshots, so that my mage doesn’t have to pretend they’ve been practicing archery on the side

I have been saying this stuff (sorta) for years. Why do the actual saviors of Azeroth have to grind rep for these pathetic factions that literally cant solve their own issues. That is the entire reason there is a raid that we the players kill, to give these worthless trash lore npcs some peace of mind. That’s also why i dont understand rep grinds. These people are pathetic, dont actually do anything to defend themself from true evil. Then they ask me to kill 15 spiders and pick some flowers for a few weeks before asking me to kil the raids end boss. What even is this garbage. These factions should be licking our boots to get our fabled help. The game is 20 years old, and technically (doesnt matter when you made the character) we are fabled heroes that have saved the world a thousand times over. Yet here i am, kiling 15 spider workers and mining 8 ore… F you Blizzard writers, you are the worst POS this franchise has ever seen.

Chérie, let’s not mince words, Dragon Raja puts you at the heart of the story, all on a bloody phone! And Blizzard? Ah, they’ve got more money than a goblin could dream of, yet somehow, we’re all just bystanders while a handful of NPCs steal the show. You call this an MMO? Non, mon cher, it’s ‘main character syndrome,’ and Blizzard’s got it bad.

We’re not talking about a little cough that goes away; this is the kind of rot that needs chemotherapy, not a Band-Aid. It’s time for Blizzard to wake up and overhaul this game before it becomes a tragic has-been. Oui, it won’t be pretty, there might be tears, some sacrifices, a bit of hair loss. But better to take the bitter medicine now than watch this once-great game waste away, no?"

I’m a mage, playing since 2005. I was handed a magic wand to “fortify dalaran’s defenses” and somehow didn’t notice that i was magically nullifying dalaran’s defenses. I almost asked for a refund. We need more player curation for the story - at least class-wise.

Yes, needing Azeroth VIPs to drive a story has always been tacky.
