not all heroes wear capes.
Some wear quivers
go get me 30 gnoll ears i got this.
You could be the Warrior of Light, have personally defeated intergalactic despair personified, and now just shrug as normies get killed because you can’t be bothered to intervene.
In all seriousness, there’s a good reason to not be a super OP hero. They almost always break storytelling and it’s better to be a nobody.
I am not going to lie, I felt some type of way when I doing what was basically human resources quest. Taking down solicitations and reminding people about policies in their handbook on gossip. They are lucky I did not say anything about the unscheduled breaks too.
I can understand why they’ve kinda sidelined me I tend to click on them until they get annoyed with me and say something snarky. Don’t think I’m well received within the cool kids circle.
I mean I just saw that as new friends helping each other.
If faerin trusts someone with their shield / prosthetic, that’s a pretty big compliment
DAE threads are definitely the brainchild of heroic leaders.
More to the point, I feel more like you’re the accessible PR manager for these big figures.
Shadowlands was a clown parade. I honestly think it was one of the least enjoyed expansions because the errors the “heroes” were making were so ridiculous. It was saved at the end, barely, a little bit, maybe not, nah it sucked.
Dragonflight was showcasing a power greater than ‘teh heero’ so the entire expansion got a pass.
But this, I’m not seeing anything special or heroic. They got some splainin to do. I personally hope anduin’s “light” is not actually the light and he pumped homeboy full of some “tainted love ooooohoohohwoah baderm berm chchchchchchchhc baderm berm tainted love”
I didn’t need a lecture on how someone with one arm learned doesn’t need better technology because they learned with poor technology. ??? Uhhh did anyone else really do anything impressive? I must have missed it.
S’been a while, but can the hero be in the cutscenes at least? Silent protagonist is getting old, but not even a cameo in some of these. Where are you, watching inside of a barrel through a knothole?
I saw it as kind of a “you get us set while we begin this conversation in your absence” kind of deal. A “you are not necessary for this” thing.
I gotta be honest I’ve been to many a bar and I have never served a plate of drinks to my friends, nor have I ever been served a plate of drinks by my friends. Normally we let the servers do that and if at the bar they are just sat in front of us.
Were I invited to a bar and then ordered to go get drinks and serve them while the team talked about the next step of the project I would not exactly take it well. It’s a bit insulting
Also to be fair sometimes they make us do something while npcs are having a chat so we don’t have to just sit there.
yeah but in most of the cutscenes you don’t even DO anything, you’re just a floating kilrogg eyeball camera watching and zooming in on parts? it’s baffling how little interaction you actually have when the important stuff is going down.
at least the main story npcs are fully voiced in this game lmao
because we are not heroes, we are wandering sellswords here to do the minor chores like killing the beings bent on universal destruction while the NPCs get all the credit.
That cutscene is a great example of what could be done if the dev had more time for each expansion.
For instance, it would have been cool if my druid had turned into flight form and dived rather then forcing me out of cat form and jumping like my character has suddenly forgotten it can fly at will.
chores ain’t gonna do themselves bro now getcho asz to work
I would like to be the hero who goes up to one of the major npcs and says. “Why do I have to do all the dirty work?”
“I have about had it, I am a hero! And I do not have time to kill fifty zhevras for their hooves. What do you do with those zhevra hooves anyway? I bet you make them into glue so you can keep that skimpy armor from falling off whenever you do some actual fighting!”
I mean I agree but also WoW’s always been this way.
Remember back in WoD when you were the commander of the garrison? You were treated as a hero and everyone hated it.
I personally liked in Legion how we were the paragons of our respective orders, though. That’s cool. In my headcanon our WoW MC is either a paladin or a death knight because of this.
War is old men talking and young men fighting. This is the way of the world…
I always love how they call me “champion” right before they basically ask me to take out the trash or mow the lawn…
