I did a quick search and found no history on this topic so here I am
Cryptocurrency users and holders are on the rise and it is the future in terms of a monetary medium. Even stocks will be transformed and undergo some type of tokenization. I was wondering if Blizzard corp plans on integrating a digital wallet into their games, especially WoW, as a way to capitalize on more revenue generating potential and for their players to also earn while playing.
I see this business model taking off in a bright way, where both company and players earn while players play. I understand some games are in development with this model built in but I think WoW would be the ideal setting for this.
Potential benefits would include:
Support continued development of the game
Players introduced to blockchain technology
Player activity increased (earning is fun)
Subscription can be paid by crypto earned
Digital wallet integration would allow players to convert ingame coin into another coin of their choice, such as Bitcoin, ETH or any other supported by that wallet
Potential cons would include:
Devaluation of coins acquired
Game mechanics manipulated to promote ingame earning (unlikely because WoW devs are not evil)
What do you all think?
I personally would love this as I am an active bitcoin and crypto investor, and since I love WoW, I would be ecstatic about this.
Centralized financial institutions are incorporating bitcoin, in particular, as an investment asset to their customers. Currently, mostly institutional investors are taking advantage of this.
Further, while you may see JPMorgan heads downplaying cryptocurrency, you wonât hear how they and other large cloud tech companies are investing in the critical infrastructure upon which the cryptoecosystem will work.
Musk trying to influence the market so he can make more money?
Non centralized currency with nothing actually backing it upâŚis a scam.
With Crypto, the entire point of it is to sit on it and then try to trick someone else to buy it from you. If you actually use Crypto to purchase anything, its generally seen as a poor decision.
I put in $100 on Doge around the time it hit Robinhood and ended up gaining a nice chunk of return but was too stupid to pull out before the crash and now I only have a couple of hundred in my account.
we already have a crypto, its called gold, you earn it by partaking in in-game activities, you can spend it in game, you can even buy game time with it. integrating a foreign crypto into the game wouldnât help support it unless it was taking advantage of the player base that was already paying for subscriptions.
Oh donât bring the crypto scheme to wow, seriously op, you deserve having your account deleted and your IP and MAC addresses permabanned simply for suggesting this.
