That’s true ,they may not believe the op claim that he’s sick. I had to visit the doc. because of the pain was at my left temple that I couldn’t sleep and in a constant fog.
True but with the line of work OP is doing, I’m sure they have insurance. If so, it’s like maybe 20 to 30 bucks usually.
Not only that but it’s a trust thing too and legalities and all that. That way if people get sick you can say “I was told to stay home but work made me come in” kinda thing.
I work in a hospital, which is a petri dish of ick… I tested positive for Covid September 21st, expected to quarantine for the 5 days but, Covid had other ideas. It is now November 2, and I’m still out of work, no longer contagious but having some pretty bad complications due to it.
Thankfully my company is amazing, and they’re working with me so that I can still pay my bills and rest and get better. I can’t do my job and they can’t meet my limitations set by the doctor currently, I won’t know when I return to work until December 12. Hopefully I can breathe better by then and be able to do more than walk across my house without needing a nap.
I agree with a lot of the posts here, find a company that values you, and the health and well-being of you and their clients.
Take care of yourself so you can better help and care for others.
I just got covid again friday. Third time. Got it over seeing the grandson.
I never do have very bad symptoms. No fever or anything…but the fact is I am CONTAGEOUS when I have it and shouldnt be risking infecting others who might actually die from it.
Your job seems to be like a place I worked in the 90s. Literally ZERO concern for their employees or their customers.
If that’s all that was needed to take a day off, people would just say “Customers will sue, I’m taking off, real sick boss, fake cough” and be done with it.
The problem is employers don’t believe it because employees abuse it.
Not really but as a computer programmer I have been working from home for about 3 years now. So even if I am not feeling well, I can generally still work. And in cases where I can’t, I can always just log in later to make up missed work if I feel the need.
I worked in industrial food manufacturing and I don’t wish to contaminate mass food productions that feed millions of folks around the world so even if they called me to come in I wouldn’t (even if it cost my job).
I work remote now, but my previous company in an office environment would be mad if you came to work sick and tell you to go home before you infect everyone else.
I would just say “it’s a crap job you should go find another one” but as someone who grew up dirt poor with wage slave parents I know it’s not so simple. Good on you for “making the health and well being of your patrons a priority” and if anyone gives you any crap you just throw that phrase right into their stupid faces.
No we get 10 paid sickdays and also 5 personal days off and this doesn’t include vacation time either but I’m also not American so we have a much better quality of life.
People need to realize small business is where it’s at.
No hr. No corp bull.
Most small business treat you like humans instead of numbers.
Will you make as much money? Nope. Not close.
If we invested our personal efforts into small business, their business will increase and you have a good work environment and a better chance of increased wages as things get better.
Instead of working up a ladder, you just make more money as the business makes more money.
It blows my mind how people get treated when they work for larger companies.
I’ll add this: small towns. People are more chill in small towns. It’s more of a community.
Nope. Never even hear a word about it. We even have a sick line where we call and leave a voice mail, so we never even talk to the boss, and he never questions you as long as you dont call in more than 3 times a a rolling 12 week period.
