with other games making tons of money in their own company. like king and whatever else other phone devs.
i very much doubt blizzard would keep world of warcraft going if it wasnt making them money.
people will say its dying.
or that it totally has 10 mil players
but you know what really matters?
the game wouldnt be here if it wasnt popular/making them tons of money.
ignore both parties trying to act like the game is dead or not. thats all that really matters. they are another adjacent of the people that thinks m+ and raiding is dead. or some other extreme. things that are actively being updated are being actively being updated because it brings players to the game and resubs.
latest casual player content patch is a sad sad attempt at content. yeah
make a generic af event where you kill random mobs and then a boss mob spawns that gives you a chance of a super cool looking set to bait people ? done
but then again its a mid season even that has like not even 1/20th of the interest and was most likely left to be done be like their c or d team. i was not surprised at all it came as a bugfest.
I thought the D team was all that was left after they fired the original developers who actually cared about the game?

Blizzard never broke down individual games revenues, it was always the entirety of the company when reported. Most they would ever mention was sales figures, which they stopped doing, and if it was doing better comparatively to some other point in time.
The last deep dive they did into how many actual players there are is around 1 million. There is zero chance of 10 million since that was Wowâs absolute Peak during Wrath of the Lich King and youâd be completely delusional to think thereâs that many players in the game when it is so completely empty

This 100% not true, WoW is def a line item on the P&L. You can look it up to see.
Did you actually look? because it is. Or it was, the last time I reviewed it
DF did nothing to reverse the trend. Sales were abysmall and they simple retained the people who are hopeless addicts and would never leave anyway.

~5 mil subs with retail and all versions of classic mostly cause of multi-box style accounts and bots.
I know multiple people who havent played the game in 3+ months and only do major patch stuff for a few weeks before dipping again but are on auto or bulk subscribe.
Same with having seperate classic and retail sub so they could be logged in both at the same time when it first came out (i did it, grinded up classic fishing and herbing between mythic nyalotha pulls during prog)
Actual individual players i wouldnt put over 2 mil though.

This is exactly why a cash shop was implemented into the game around the times of massive sub loss. Cash Shop is carrying the game.

The sheer number of accounts created for this game is absolutely bonkers. Unfortunately, the number of accounts created lends credence to the idea that WoW as a game isnât very good lol.
Well over 200+ million accounts created and, even if you use the OPs goofy 10m number, the retention rate for players is ABYSMAL.
So, yes, none of the games have a line on the IS but you can extrapolate based on MAUs per chart. Iâm using 2022 as a baseline because that is the last one for ABK.
Blizzard has 45 of 389 total MAUs based on the chart in the disclosure, so 11.5% of revenue is Blizzard in this case. The others are King and Activision. Based on their statement that no other game has more than 10%, and three games, CoD, Candy Crush, and WoW make up about 80% of revenue, we can extrapolate that to be about 700m in revenue that WoW generates from all sources. Thatâs shop, subs, different game versions, box sales, etc.
So yea, about 700m in 2022. Iâm not digging into MS financials right now and I donât know how granular Blizzard is in there but someone could.
Thatâs a lot of assumptions to make on nothing more than a guess made out of thin air lol.

Itâs not an assumption. Itâs even easier based on the numbers. 7.8b in revenue, say WoW has 10% of that, you are at 780m, shave off some for the extra 7-8% more based on the 80% note, and you are at 700m. Iâm not exact but itâs around there, and itâs not a guess.
That is most definitely a guess lol.
Actually over 12m active subs in wrath

Itâs math. You can go do it yourself. Youâre not presenting an argument other than UM LOL UR GUESSING
Math on nothing lol. Blizzard MAUs are counted across all games. If I log into 2 Blizzard games, Iâm counted twice. Whatâs more, you arenât taking account of the other games Blizzard has in terms of itâs revenue. Like I said, you are guessing based off of what amounts to be wild assumptions.
Even worse, the revenue isnât just game revenue, it also includes anything bought on the store, including merchandise sales lol.
