Does wow on an external ssd run better than an internal hardrive thing

does wow on an external ssd run better than an internal hardrive thing has anyone tried it?

It all depends on the read and write speed of the device the game is store on. Being an SSD it would probably run better, but the annotation of internal or external has no real bearing on performance.

I have all my Blizzard games installed on my M.2 SSD, which is insanely fast compared to my hard drives that have write speeds of 7200rpm, which is about as fast as most consumer grade hard disks run.

Depends on the connection to the drive. If the bus youre going through is at least as fast as the drives read/write speeds than yes, external is faster. Otherwise, youre limited by whatever is slowest, drive I/O or connection.

It doesn’t run better, it just loads better. There is not a single situation in this game where your performance would be improved by loading faster outside of loading screens.

Though, i do believe an external drive would wear out more quickly than an internal drive. Correct me if i’m wrong.

Honestly it’s not going to matter much either way… If both are ssd but if one is just a hhd then ssd will be better most of the time

Any kind of SSD will load faster than a Hard Drive. But it will only effect load times, not FPS.

Yes, even a mediocre external SSD will be faster than an internal HD as long as it’s connected via USB 3 or Thunderbolt 3, with USB 3.0 over a Type-C connector and Thunderbolt 3 being fastest.

I have a Samsung T7 external that gets reads in the ballpark of 1.0-1.5GB/s reads over Type-C for example. That’s over twice as fast as SATA III, which HDs don’t come close to saturating most of the time.

It’s better than the whatchamacallit, but not as good as the whosicallit thingamajigy.
