I literally have 5 coworkers who are interested in playing classic, but are confused about whether the trial will count. I honestly don’t have a source for them but am 90% sure the trial is only for retail WoW and they would need to pay $15 to trial Classic.
Anyone know for sure? Any sources on this?
I don’t know, asking that question in the classic forum might help though.

Accounts without game time (starter/veteran accounts) cannot create classic WoW characters. I’m not 100% whether they can log into existing ones but I would assume not.
Edit: per support
- World of Warcraft Classic characters are not accessible on Starter Edition accounts

Classic didn’t have support for the Starter Accounts that allow you to play until level 20 for free. That came in a much later version of the game.
