Just started my warlock and 10 of the talent tree skills require 2 points ← warlock side. 5 on the affliction side which i am currently playing. Have they not reduced these at all yet
The class tree is in a bit of a state at the moment.
Affliction indeed does tie for the most 2-tier talent nodes with another two specs I believe. Additionally, we have the lowest number of talents altogether. And on top of this we have the most ‘x spell deals % more damage/x spell has % reduced cast time’ talents coming in at 6.
If you made all 2-tier talents 1-tier, and removed all the ‘% damage/% cast time’ talents, we’d only have 25 total adaptations to Affliction. Would be able to take everything in the tree. It’s in a good deal of need for some creativity and workshopping.
This would require blizzard to actually do something with affliction. Considering their response to Dragonflight’s issue of having to choose between doing good AoE and garbage ST, or doing good ST but bad AoE, was to make us do mediocre damage in all forms of content, it does not inspire confidence that they are willing to do anything.
Wouldn’t want to help the 5 people that still play affliction
The lock dev doesn’t even know it affliction exists. Locks been a clown show of destro aka firemage for far to long.
They’ve 100% moved away from having dedicated devs for each spec. Which is probably why this is such a problem having a team of 5-10 people attempting to look after all the classes/specs/herotalents is likely a nightmare.
I don’t think we have the most. I’m pretty sure Shadow Priest has the most 2 point talents, although I think we’re one of the top ones.
Kind of annoying when destruction has 0 and simply moving 1 point is all they have to do to make significant gameplay changes
Yea the lock class tree has way too many 2 point nodes and all of them are core talents, which leads to a lack of build options later on.
I haven’t looked at the Aff tree much but it doesn’t surprise me if Aff has a lot of 2 point nodes and filler talents. Demo has the same problem last xpac and the devs decided slowly lobotomizing Demo over the course of DF was the correct play rather than tackle Demo’s problems. It took an uproar to finally get a proper rework for Demo.
The devs seem to do the bare minimum with warlocks as of late and seemingly have no clear goals for the class / specs. The class tree got minimal changes going into TWW, and IMO failed to meet their stated goals for the “rework”. Don’t expect anything to happen to locks or Aff until the devs remember that there are other classes in need of love beyond Mage or Pally.
