Does threat gen get better later on?

Lvl 22 range right now. And everytime i use blizzard i always pull aggro. Still learning how to time threat and when as a dps i can big d it vs having to reserve it.

Not really no.

Wait for three sunders.

Well that really sucks. Is it like that during raids also?

The problem is tank AoE threat is abysmally low. You can use it on non-elites where they will die before they kill you. As for elites, don’t use it until at least the skull is dead.

Pretty much, but it does get better with prot talents for warriors. Especially with the threat increase talent, but for the most part, you do have to wait a bit for the tank to get aggro.

Part of the fun.

Not a whole lot, no. I know it takes some getting used to after playing retail, but just remember that you’ll do more damage in the end by waiting for the tank to have threat before starting. Can’t deal damage if you’re dead because the mobs left the tank and started hitting you.

It’s also a good idea to install a threat meter. It can give you actual numbers, so you will begin to get a sense of when the tank’s threat is high enough for you to start attacking, and when you’re starting to get too close to their threat so you can ease off.

It takes a bit of practice but you’ll get there!

AoE abilities before a tank has a moment to generate threat on all the targets is a sure way to draw aggro. Just give 'em a little bit of time with single-target abilities before going into big AoEs.

No, it’s not in raids with a good tank on the priority kill target that knows how to generate threat. A good tank knows to use some dps gear to allow dps to do their max potential. There are a couple exceptions to this like mobs that reduce the threat of their tank permanently, but a good tank will let you go full force most of the time. This is definitely the case for Alliance with Salvation.

Just wait tell the warriors realize they need to do fury/prot and dual wield to get the threat everyone is used to from BFA.

And then die through parry haste because private servers had greatly lower parry.

The low damage makes it doable still. In fact, it will be bigger than ever

Not all private servers buffed the raids. I really doubt DW Fury tanking will be possible until absurdly high gear levels on farm.

Light’s Hope did and that is the main place the meta came from.

AOE is almost always going to result in you pulling aggro. There is no reliable method of aoe threat generation. Classic cannot be played like the game you are accustomed to playing.

Doing more damage but having drastically lower parry isn’t really a tradeoff. The main downside of dual-wielding is the higher miss chance, and as you’re also attacking faster, parry if you’re not behind the target.

Yep. AoEing in dungeons wasn’t a thing (excluding with a Paladin but even that was limited) until Wrath - and that was the beginning of the downfall of the dungeon as relevant.

The main drawback to dual wield tanking is taking a lot more damage. You would be at least yellow hit capped when dual wield tanking anyways.

There are two answers to this, the answer you’d have gotten in vanilla and the answer you should get today.

What you’d have gotten in vanilla: “Blizzard? In a DUNGEON? Yeah no. Sheep one mob, then use single target attacks on the one the tank is sundering.”

What you should get today: Tell the tank to spam Battle Shout. That allows him to hold threat on infinite mobs forever, specially if you have pets in the party. Might need to let him get 1-2 off before you start in with blizzard. Tank may not know about this trick, so make sure to tell them. And since the threat is based solely on party members being in combat, he can start Battle Shouting as soon as anybody’s in combat - it doesn’t have to actually hit the mobs. He might want to do Demo Shout once for the debuff… but pretty much other than that he should just hit Battle Shout over and over.

APES proved just how easy MC is. 40 people at 55, in quest greens and blues from the 30s. Ya Fury/Prot is going to be a thing.

please dont use blizzard if ur ever in a group with me

If someone is really idiotic, like spamming arcane explosion while sitting on top of the mobs and does it before i can get even a few auto attacks off…I just let them die anymore. I cancel my target and back away.

On the other side of the coin - when i am on a healer and the tank thinks he is playing BFA or something and just pulls non stop as though he is playing a arcade game [being mindless about mana within the party], i will let him die. If the player doesn’t like it then get off my my lawn and go back to BFA.
