you said he was a newish player. you think he would care about getting the absolute BIS staff or just one that’s pretty awesome?
Well, like I said, I got my buddies from Marvel’s Contest of Champions alliance into playing WoW. They’re not that good at it, are more interested in getting cool looking gear and mounts, but they enjoy what they putter around doing.
Also in end, MMOs are a dying breed and many people don’t like playing with others and prefer to play alone due to various reasons.
Collecting those things is far more enjoyable and pleasant than endgame gearing in BFA.
I think the zone experience will be better too. They will get the lore of the zone while leveling. I came at the tail end of cata and didn’t play hard until MoP. Trying to learn the lore had been a chore. I’m hoping the questing in the vanilla zones after the squish helps that.
you are trolling. I didn’t even said anything about gear. You just moved the goal post.
You will still have people saying “I can’t” over 50k
If they go wild with a brutosaur mount what makes you think flying at a costly price is an exception?
So far they said they intend on keeping Azerite and the HoA. It just won’t function in SL. No word on corruptions but I don’t see how that would matter anyway since its max level content and new players would be moving to Shadowlands at that point or before.
From my experience… no… I tried to bringh a new friend in a few weeks back and he didn’t understand anything. We were doing the orc starting areas and they lead on that there’s the threat of deathwing or whatever because of the cataclysm changing all the zones. He didn’t understand that deathwing was not the current final boss.
We get into the 60+ bracket and then he doesn’t understand that the litch king… is also not the final boss… We get into pandaria and then he lost interest because the warchief isn’t even the warcheif [garrosh is dead but he is giving me a quest???]
The narrative of this game makes no sense to a new player that is completely going in blind. He also said there are too many buttons and too much to keep track of. We never got to the pathfinder level zones but I’m pretty sure he’d be mad that he would have to grind for months to fly in content that isn’t relevant.
Blizz needs to UNIFY THE DANG STORY or new players will get confused and leave before even getting into current content.
How is that trolling?
“I want flying but I don’t like Pathfinder”
Game is an MMO, you work things to get what you want as the reward
Free to play games do that with a credit card
So you proved my point, if Pathfinder, mythic gear, etc etc was done with just one button, everyone would love bfa
People like completion, they like a clear end goal, and yes, many people do care.
Another example is Benthic gear. Benthic gear having completely random stats required a lot of people to have to continuously roll for gear that they needed. That turned a lot of people I knew off of the game, and it’s quite similar to what I said about the staff as well.
retail - imho hell no. me and my friend had to beg his gf to play WoW with us XD now i think she put it on the back burner and waiting for shadowlands cause nothing to even do in BfA that she wants to do. plus doesn’t help she is playing alone because me and him don’t play retail atm.
Classic - possibly it’s more simpler and what WoW is made of so i mean it’s sure to attract new players.
to me though WoW isn’t new player friendly. just like many mmorpg’s it rushes you to end game leaving you figuring out wth to do as you go along with NO real structure on the game itself imho it makes you feel like your parents just left you at a random gas station said they’d used the bathroom 10-20mins later you go looking for them and there gone. never to be seen again.
that is how WoW imo feels to a new player. you literally need to baby sit new players a little to get them interested in the game yet they expect everyone to know what to do and whats going on already.
Also this, the last guy I tried to get into WoW was so confused and frustrated by the lore and storytelling. He left after telling me that it made no sense and he had no idea what the story was.
No, I am pointing out that you have made a false equivalence comparison.
The barrier to entry is too high now. I have tried with family and friends. the ones that did try it left in legion. i must say from cata to legion i did get some folks in here. BFA a few checked it out but left a few months in.
They’re doing that in Shadowlands TBH. Exile’s Reach → BFA → Shadowlands. You can always argue they should have done it sooner but they’re doing it now so… yeah.
It’s 1000% not new player friendly. Blizzard is too obsessed with time gating the hell out of fun. They’re doing some good things now but these things should have been done a year ago.
See that’s where developers made a fool out of you. Developers wanted flying gone in Wod but couldn’t do it because of the backlash so they had to bring it back grudgingly.
Pathfinder is just to delay flying as much as possible because developers don’t like flying.
Also this.
You can argue on what MMO has a better endgame all day. But when it comes to leveling up, and new player introductions, almost every MMO does it better than WoW.
And that is why Blizzard is doing Exiles Reach and pushing new players into newer higher quality content, graphics and questing wise.
