Been playing since vanilla and I’ve seen things change over all this time. After wrath the game really went down hill, there was moments where it came roaring back but nothing like it was during wrath until classic came out. A lot of people didn’t experience vanilla so it brought a lot of old players back and now with wrath about to release a lot of old players are back wanting to reexperience the peak. Its a great feeling but with classic being a solved game we all know where it goes next and dragonflight really doesn’t look like its doing anything that can recapture the game and make retail feel great like classic does.
Blizzard still has a chance with retail but they need something revolutionary to recapture what they once had. Dragonflight might be good but good isn’t enough they need a new direction completely, plus cata will be the beginning of the end of classic. I played SoM raided all of it and I really don’t think Classic+ will ever work now. Its because the people who once made classic wow are all gone and the devs now that would make new content are the same ones making new content for retail
Anyone else excited to see WoW’s peak 1 more time even if it might be the last, and do you believe blizz will ever grow some balls and take real risks with retail because they have the chance, especially with classic carrying the game for past couple years.
I think that ship sailed some time ago. Wow isn’t the cash cow it was. At 18 years they had a good run and morphed the game to suit a changing playerbase. They say razors are cheap; razorblades make money. Same with wow. The sub is cheap; they make their money with the in-game shop.
Yep exactly. It literally feels the same energy and hype when wrath first came out. Sad knowing it is the real end. When it first happened didnt realize how great it was and pretty special to experience it again. Wont have another 15-20 years. Crazy to think I was 15 when I started now im 33 and 15 more years be almost 50 WTF lol
I agree with you that this might be the last “great” experience in WoW. However, it’s also proven to me that I still like “this” WoW. If they were able to fork this version of the game and carry it forward with different decisions, I’d probably play that too.
However, we will probably leave if one-of-two-things happen:
Cata is the next expansion
They bring back the “retail” conveniences (cross realm, lfr, etc)
Once they clip off the community again and make the game too convenient, we’ll probably lose interest again.
I would absolutely love for them to fork right now and make something totally new from THIS branch of the game. Split from here. This was the absolute best time in WoW and playing it again in its raw form is JUST as good as it was back then.
Yes. Its over for blizz. Removimg rdf from witlk was the signal that they lost all knowledge of thier own game. They cant see that removing the rdf from mythic plus has caused them to lose subs. They think forcing players to form groups is good for the game.
Players have moved in frim that. Blizz is out of touch. Removing rdf shows they will make those same stupid decisions in dragonfligjt. Its over. Enjoy whats left if wotlk. I hope they at least leave the questing alone. I think after players level to 80, the fun will be over and as they face the silly changes blizz did to wotlk, it will start to fade away. It was a good time, but its finally over.
I wouldn’t mind playing Cata Classic (which was better than what came before it in more ways than not) or a new Classic+ incarnation. That’s my 2 cents worth. I was never able to play “retail” WoW for even a full month before quitting, post MoP, so I’ve totally given up on ever playing that again.
Man it’s been a fun ride hasn’t it? Been the best last few years of WoW for myself… Wrath is the cherry on top. I have DEEP memory of what happens next and will YOLO my way on outta here right after Lich King gets his ace kicked….
Wrath was my favorite expac ever and Im excited to get to play it one more time, even though it will be with some changes. This may be an unpopular opinion, but Im seeing some positive changes with blizz, first time in a long time. Time will tell if its to little, to late or not. And no, I dont think wow will ever see its glory days again, but Im hoping they can get back to making it a fun game again.
