I’m wondering if this build would be good. And maybe I could swap Nurturing Dormancy into Embrace of the Dream?
Not having Photosynthesis would be a decent blow to your HPS that simply won’t be made up for by 9 seconds of Tree of Life every minute and Power of the Archdruid. You would gain some ramp potential compared to a standard druid raid build.
Without knowing your raid composition, it’s hard to say whether this tradeoff would be good. If you have a fairly large raid and outside your ramps the rest of your team is suited to keeping the raid healthy, this build would be fine. If instead your raid is fairly small or your raid needs you to help supplement the rot damage all the time at the cost of slightly less effective ramps, this build seems worse than what’s recommended on wowhead.
This wouldn’t make sense for your build. The strength of Power of the Archdruid is being able to have more HoTs out in the same time period during your ramp. An extra 2 rejuvenations outside of your ramp (especially on random targets that may not need it) isn’t going to move the needle much. With a ramp-heavy build, getting an extra 6 seconds from some of your rejuventations is going to do a lot more than getting some extra oomph out of the initial hit of Wild Growth.
I’m not sure what the comps going to look like =(, people swap mains every tier. I was mostly curious on the build as every pug I’ve been in with another resto druid, they’ve been running it, and I was curious as to why.
Thank you =). Also, with Photosynthesis, would I keep life bloom on myself? Sorry for all of the questions, I’m just wanting to make sure I understand and do things right =)
Blizzard is significantly changing Flourish in 10.2 so I have no idea what resto druid is even going to look like next tier. But each healer has some changes they can tweak in their build to help fill into whatever group they are in to emphasize each other’s strengths.
With how easily most groups can push up health pools, my guess is that having some extra HPS between ramps is less necessary. Resto druid shines at putting out an obscene amount of healing in our Flourish window. If you’re in a PUG where holy paladins, holy priests, resto shamans, and preservation evokers already snipe the in between healing, leaning more into ramps could make sense. But I’m just speculating here.
100%. The first bloom always goes on yourself in raid to get the 20% faster HoT ticks (with the second bloom going on someone needing more healing in the moment if you run Undergrowth).
No need to apologize at all! We should all try to help one another when we can.
If you compare the build you linked to the recommended raid build on wowhead, they are nearly identical. The build you linked moves a couple talents around to get more total HoTs out with Reforestation and Power of the Archdruid at the expense of up front Wild Growth healing and 20% faster ticking HoTs. Each HoT on its own doesn’t do much on its own, it’s the multiplicative effect of having more HoTs on a target along with our mastery that makes our healing potent. But even with our mastery, specs that are more reactive with strong on demand spot healing will likely nab the healing on players when no major damage is going out. So for most of the fight, those extra HoTs aren’t likely to do much healing.
Where this changes is during the big group wide damage events that overwhelm the spot healing of those other specs. Each extra HoT on a player when we will have to to 12 WG out is a boost to our throughput with Flourish up as a result of this mastery. That’s why Reforestation and Archdruid are more oriented towards those ramp windows moreso than keeping the group topped between your ramps.
I do question whether losing Photosynthesis is worth it even for the ramps as you’ll get the bonus in those windows as well. However, without doing some number crunching I can’t say for sure. Conceptually, the build you linked isn’t bad so to speak, it just puts more eggs in the ramp healing basket. Depending on your raid healer makeup, such a build concept could make sense for sure.
For me personally I wouldn’t give up Photosynthesis even in a ramp build. If I really wanted Archdruid, I’d move points out of Spring Blossom and Reforestation to take Embrace and Photosynthesis.
Thank you so much, you’re amazing <3
Oh, and Moonlitdream on Tichondrius is my Druid…it won’t let me swap to her to post, and Firefox won’t let me swap to my account at all =(, it’s stuck on my sons, even when I try to log out and back in =(
