Does the quality of mats matter for work orders?

If I’m wanting to create a work order for a chest piece and the mats I use are a quality of 1 instead of 3. Does that matter?

Does it affect the ilvl or something?

Yes. Quality of mats effects the difficulty of crafting the recipe, therefore making it more difficult with lower quality mats and easier with the highest. The higher the difficulty of the recipe the more skill in the profession is required to craft at the best quality. You get skill from the knowledge points used, your overall profession skill and the profession tools. Hope that answers most of your questions.
