I’ve done almost 3000 casts and haven’t seen it. I haven’t found any updated comments on Wowhead whether or not it’s been caught since Dragonflight came out, and it’s started to make me paranoid that I’m 100% wasting my time lol. All the comments say “my fishing was 400+” or something so I’m hoping with the rework of fishing skill levels that it’s not causing an issue. Thanks!
Can’t confirm or deny. When fishing was made expansion-specific a while back there were a lot of suspicions that the drop chance calculations for various rare drops were not properly updated for new skill system, making them much rarer or impossible, but it’s a very, very hard theory to prove or disprove.
Alas, 4000 is still within the unsurprising range of bad luck for fishing rares, although you have my sympathies.
(Hopefully someone can come along with an encouraging anecdote of having caught one?)

Yeah my problem is that there isn’t any real information about it, the ONLY other information I’m finding is that someone is at 5000+ casts and hasn’t gotten it. I’m about to just cut my losses and wait until there’s any confirmed information, which who knows how long that will take.
I’m okay if my luck with this one is turning out awful, but I just wanna make sure it’s actually possible or not something like 1/10,000.
I thought you had to farm a currency for that one. Or am I misremembering?
No, it’s a straight up rare drop when fishing in the Underbelly of (Northrend) Dalaran.
(it also shows up on the black market auction house fairly regularly and doesn’t get a lot of bids)

I wanted to get it authentically but I just got 3000 casts and am giving up, specifically because I’m finding no information about it still being reasonably obtainable
I didn’t know you could fish it. To my knowledge you have to farm 20,000 sightless eyes. Thats how i got it.

Buying the pet will not give you the achievement. I had such bad luck with farming it that I bought it but I did not unlock the achievement.
That is the rat mount, not the pet.

You’re thinking of Ratstallion, the mount in Legion Dalaran (that I assume is a cute reference to the sewer rat pet from Wrath)
