Does TBC hurt or enhance the game? Both?

I never played TBC. So far, the only thing I’ve read about it that seems concerning to me is the introduction of flying. Does flying have a detrimental effect on the social / exploratory / world pvp aspects of the game? Does it make the game better?

What are some other things about TBC that enhance or hurt the game?

TBC to me was real classic plus. It’s still got the hard vanilla grind to do raids, PvP was a ton of fun, and the improvements arent overwhelming.

TBC is my favorite expansion, brother!

Flying ruined the game.

Agreed. TBC is the classic plus. They could just give us TBC talents, rework the numbers on enemies in the game, and add some extra content and boom we’d have a perfect classic plus lmao. Or we could just do TBC fresh

Will you elaborate?

Flying eliminated some world PvP since it’s harder to gank people if they have easier more rapid travel such as flying. So some PvP enthusiasts dislike it for that reason.

Before flying everyone had to run around the world or use a mount. You saw people riding all over the place. You’d run into people all the time and you couldn’t go down certain paths without a fight if you were on a pvp server.

The world felt alive and full of people.

When they introduced flying with TBC, you never saw anybody. People just fly to where they need to, do their thing, and fly away.

You lose the feeling of a world full of people.

agreed TBC is the best WOW has ever been, and will ever be.

This is what I am concerned about.

It certainly made it LARGER, since Hellfire Pen alone is massive compared to any area in basic Azeroth. It also made low-level quests worth going back and doing at max level since you actually got full rep from them instead of the Vanilla experience of having it tied to quest level, so doing a grey quest meant you got barely any rep for doing it.

If there’s any group that doesn’t deserve to get what they want, it’s gankers.

When I look back, TBC was the most fun and memorable time of my WoW career. While I greatly enjoyed Lich King and loved it, TBC was PERFECT to me brothers.

Well thats kind of something you sign up for when you play on a PvP server.

Also, you’ll get ganked without warning.

With ground mounts, you can see people coming. You can pan your camera around as you quest and watch your back.

With flying mounts, some dork will just land on your head out nowhere and attack you. Usually while you have 2 mobs on you too.

I can see how excessive ganking could get annoying. I would probably log out and play a different character for a little bit. On the other hand, I think the risk of OWPvP makes the world feel exciting and dynamic.

It’s the perfect word for the dude who does that lol.

Sometimes I am a dork.

TBC doesn’t hurt the game at all. It has memorable and fun raids. Alliance Shamans and Horde Paladins. Blood elves and Draenei. Specs flesh out a good deal more and some classes are more viable than they were in vanilla. There’s also Arena.

However

Tbc is tiny compared to vanilla. You’ll run out of stuff to do insanely quick. It’s a fun time (I will never, ever forget how freaking amazing hellfire peninsula was my first time there) but it is no where near the fresh vanilla experience. I’ll be happy to do TBC at the end of vanilla this time and really look forward to both, but the most fun for me will be in vanilla.

At the same time it makes the PvP much more dynamic, and less predictable, which also isn’t bad, still a valid reason some might not like flying.

It’s worse.

We went from Tarren Mill fights with 100 people to some dork landing on your head while you’re questing.

Hence why I’m PvE all the way.

Getting aggro from a wolf or something behind a tree I’m passing does that enough for me; if I want PvP, I’ll stop playing whatever I’m playing because clearly something’s wrong with me.

Considering some of that stuff in Vanilla is Timbermaw Hold and CC rep grinding…I’ll take TBC any day. :grimacing:
