Does ravage do more damage than ambush

I think druids ravage does more damage than rogues ambush. Can anyone confirm?

At max rank, Ambush does 250% weapon damage plus 290. Opportunity further increases that by 20%. Ravage does 350% damage plus 343, but from what I can tell there aren’t any talents to make it hit harder.

So a Druid’s Ravage may do more damage when neither has good gear (as Ravage doesn’t scale as hard due to not having weapon damage for the most part to scale off of), but Ambush will be better with higher levels of gear. Where that level is I don’t know.

Doesn’t our ravage get better with gear too? In Nax we get the atiesh staff that increases our attack power by 420.

Yes, but that’s quite lategame. I’m not sure if that also makes up for the lack of something like Opportunity and weapon damage. I think the higher base damage of Ravage is purely because you don’t get to make use of both weapon damage (as yours is a fixed value) and AP, whereas Rogues get both. Rogues can also use theirs twice per combat.

Ravage:
Damage * 3.5 + 343

Ambush:
(Weapon Damage * 2.5 + 290) * (1 + (0.04 * Opportunity))

Perdition’s Blade:
58.33 DPS * 1.8 = 105 average damage.
(105 * 2.5 + 290) * (1 + (0.04 * 5))
(262.5 + 290) * (1 + (0.2))
553 * 1.2 = 664 non-crit.

Cat Form (in my current gear):
145.74 DPS * 1 = 146
146 * 3.5 + 343 = 854 non-crit.

With gear (my knowledge of rogue stats and assuming this is their BiS):
113.48 * 1.8 = 204
204 * 2.5 + 290
800 * 1.2 = 960

TL;DR: Ravage hits harder than Ambush unless you have Perdition’s Blade and 5/5 Opportunity.

If you’re getting Atiesh as Feral, I think you’ve made it. That’s so far off it’s hardly worth considering at this point.

I am ambushing clothies for around 1.5k - 1.8k with gutgore ripper main hand, would be even more with a perditions blade… does druid ravage do more than that??

Crit? Yes, for now.

Missing +10% on physical damages from talents. Also, you want to use Tiger’s fury before you ravage, very few druids are aware of that : you can actually tiger’s fury, wait for your energy to get back at 100% then Ravage. TF is adding 3.5x its damages to Ravage, so 40x3.5 = 140 more damages, and the total must be increased by 10%.
Where rogues are better is in their crit calculation if they have +30% critical damages from assassination tree.
