Does Power Word: Shield Prevent Tank From Building Rage?

In WoW classic does PW:Shield prevent tank from building rage? I know in retail there was a patch long ago that fixed that

Good question. I have a priest waiting to be played and this is important to know. I remember how it used to conflict too.

Yes, do not shield tanks unless about to die.

It does. Never use it at the start of a fight, or at all if you can help it.

I remember it preventing warriors from gaining rage, at least in the old game.

Tanks no shield. No take candle

Yes it does. Fun fact, it also slows their damage in pvp slowing their rage gain as well.

Ise pws if the tank drops health too quickly so you can get a proper heal off.

You should literally only use PW:S on a warrior tank if they are straight up about to die and you won’t get a different heal spell off. No rage warrior is no threat warrior which means tanking healer.

I ask priest’s to not spam shields on me while im tanking. Go with a renew and save a shield for sub 40% hp - stand there and regen mana (inital tick of regen after 5 secs of not casting, followed by a tick every 2 secs - if you time it right, you can get a mana regen tick AND a heal at the same time).

You want a tank to eat as much damage as they can, and a great tank will use active mitigation to reduce damage so they dont die, and become easier to heal.

Some understand, others do not.

No damage taken, no rage gained - this goes for all damage missed/parried/dodged - you get some rage for blocked damage and can spec for extra rage when you block.

Give me a shaman healer anyday of the week - the extra rage and damage from windfury totem makes warrior gameplay perfect.
