Does Playing Wow Cause high Stress?

Wow can be played solo to a great extent. But there are times players may choose to team-up with other players. Then there always seems to be a lot of pressure on players to perform at the top of their game.

I have read at times complaints from people posting on the forums That mention that some aspects of playing in a group with other players has made them uncomfortable,
apprehensive. And even that due to the demands of the content as well as the other people in the group being critical, and toxic. It ruins the experience and stresses them out.

From dungeon groups, to Raid teams, to Battlegrounds and arena, and guild runs.
There are expectations to be met and people around to put the pressure on those that don’t meet the standards, and expected requirements.

Of course you can completely do your own thing and you have the freedom to choose how to play, but if you want to join a group. You can’t really get around the stressful environment and the constant pressure from others it seems. If you make mistakes. Or the other people in the group don’t approve of the way you perform. They usually will let you know about it loudly.

So, do you experience a high stress level when you play WoW? Specially the higher levels?
Or do you not experience anything stressful at all? And to you it’s just a cake-walk?

Depends on who i’m playing with. Like you said, with my normal m+ team/raid stress is very low…but if I pug or play with other friends its very high

With that being said, I avoid PUG’ing as much as possible

I have an anxiety disorder so sometimes I stressed playing WoW just because. Although, doing higher-level content does stress me out a bit. Being in a raid group that requires me to listen in on discord probably causes the most stress. Last time I was in one I needed to take anxiety meds because of how bad it got, so I’m just gonna avoid doing those kinds of raids for now.

I quit Raiding in WOD because of High Stress and Anxiety. I take Anti Anxiety meds , I finally learned my lesson about pushing the limits as though I did not have this affliction.

I stress a lot in high level group content so i avoid it completely, i raid very casually and even then, if I’m getting killed early or performing horribly, i always offer to step out because i don’t like the idea of being a burden (even though they are my friends and seem to want me there regardless lol).

While I don’t find it stressful, I find prog raiding to really drag me down and make me feel worn out. On the flipside, I’m not stressed at all in high m+. For me the timer actually alleviates the stress. Bad run? It can only go on for a short while. Pugs are chaotic and I revel in it. Good groups are amazing. Bad groups just make me feel better about my own personal performance/contribution. Insulting groups might be annoying at worst but I move on fast.

It’s all about mindset. Everyone is different and will view content and pressure differently. That’s fine. Just do whatever you enjoy. It’s a game.

i get nervous when i do a dungeon i’ve never done before
when i’m nervous i make mistakes
so instead i just never do the dungeon

the last time i raided was molten core and onyxia in classic and it stressed me out so much i dreaded every wednesday

Iv been in groups like twice where players timed 12 keys and they would be like 420 and do like 17k dps and no one said anything about thier dps

What stresses me out and sometimes outright enrages me is when I’m doing dragon races and the game lags for like 5 seconds and the race ends before I finish.

Nah. Videogames are how I blow off steam. No stress here. Sometimes you encounter an idiot but thats just the nature of online games.

It probably helps that my favorite games other than WoW are fighting games. Which ive played competitively since the nineteen-hundreds. Back when you had to go to the arcade if you wanted to fight other people.

So im pretty clutch under pressure.

I don’t do things for recreation that cause stress. It sort of defeats the purpose. It’s why I stopped guild leading years and years ago.

I play WoW as recreation – it’s what I do to relax, blow off steam, just have fun. For me, stress isn’t fun, so I avoid activities that cause me stress when I’m looking to relax and have fun.

Yea same here, i dont really compete, i just do what ever there is to do to kill time

I stress easily, especially in PvP. I’ve pretty much stopped doing everything but RBGs, and even then, I’m lucky enough I have a team that doesn’t force me to target call anymore solo to help keep it more chill for me.

Stress comes more from other players than the actual game though.

Doing any high-end activity with other players not giving their 100% will result in stress, because no one wants to fail, and cooperation is absolutely required.

Just leading other humans, period, is stressful.

It’s why business managers always look like they’re on the verge of death, and always need a smoke.
