Does my rig affect dps?

My dps never really gets near what something like noxxic says is 'realistic'. Something occurred to me. Does my PC affect how much dps I can achieve. I have a middling i5 processor and a GT730 video card. In raids I have a FPS of around 25. Would a faster box and video card made a significant difference in dps? Or even any difference at all?
Nope, upgrading your pc and it's components never increase performance. Like ever.

Edit: I read this wrong and was overly sarcastic about what I thought I read. Carry on.
Stop reading noxxic, It gives very outdated/bad information. I'd be glad to help if you on your damage if you need help

Try swapping over to Ice Nova and in regards to a helpful website the consensus seems to be Icy Veins class guides but let me gloss over it to see if it's more ideal to help you.

Edit

Seems pretty solid, another thing it recommends besides talents is a new set of glyphs. Splitting Ice glyph is very powerful in PvE.
A few factors that can affect your performance

Input lag, depending on how bad it is, can hurt your performance

Input lag in simple terms. How long it takes for a keypress to affect what you are doing.

Latency(sometimes called ping) How long it takes to communicate between you and the server. Most of the time if you have LAG, it is due to latency and sometimes you may not even notice it.

Here is a few things i would do

Lower your display settings. you want to try to get somewhere near 60FPS. Even if that means things are not going to look as pretty like that.

The other thing is to buy a computer with better stats. WHat kind of computer is really up to you. If you could give a price range, i might be able to figure out what you can do for that price.
25-30 fps should not hinder your dps. below 5-10 fps maybe. to increase your dps, you probably should be looking at your gear/stat/spec/rotation. Also if you are clicking your abilities that could significantly effect dps. all used spells within your dps rotation should be keybound. thats what i recommend anyways. good luck.

My DPS went up when I upgraded from 2 fps to 60 :p

But yeah, if you're getting 25 already, it's not gonna matter.

like noxxic says is 'realistic'.

There's your first problem. Noxxic is horrible.

For mages there's Altered Time https://www.altered-time.com/forum/
Icy Veins http://www.icy-veins.com/
etc
Everything I've ever heard about Noxxic has been mediocre, to horrible. I'd avoid it.

AT 740 they should have Cutting Edge.

Then again I've been declined because I can't link AotC anymore...
yes it does.

i get 15 fps in raids and it kills my performance

it makes it pretty much impossible to do well
Which i5 do you have?
Upgrading your stuff makes things prettier and smoother, but it won't super-charge your DPS. Although, said upgrade may prove beneficial thanks to higher framerate and visuals and such, so I guess it can in a roundabout way.

You've met Blizzards pc requirements so I don't think that your rig is an issue. You may need to tweak your talents, glyphs and/or spell rotation. Make sure that there are no background programs running while gaming. It could also be your internet connection. You could make a customer service ticket. They'll walk you through how run diagnostics, internet pathping tracert and whatnot.
I personally don't care for noxxic. but neither am I a master at the Mage class, but Internet connection can sometimes effect dps... but your rig sounds fine to me from what iformation you provided
Another thing, your damage won't increase exponentially until you get tier/trinkets, they really make a huge bonus so don't be discouraged.
Following Noxxic will definitely decrease your in game performance.

If you're running at 20-25 FPS in raid, it shouldn't be impacting your performance in any significant way since that's high enough not to interfere with seeing what's going on. It's when it drops below 10 FPS that things start getting bad.

If you're using PvP gear in raid, you're missing out on the PvE set bonuses and procs that do increase DPS by quite a bit. It's not to say that PvP gear can't be used for raiding, but it's only on par with off tier pieces of the same ilvl. You'll want to get tier pieces and trinkets as soon as possible.
yeah lag, latency and low frame rates can all contribute to you not hitting your rotation perfectly

Some addons can cause some major lag because they are causing a crapload of errors the background
Unless you're running like 5-10 fps in the raid, I don't see it impacting your DPS whatsoever. It's Noxxic that's impacting your dps.
Thank you all for the information and feedback. I really appreciate it!!
