Hey my friend just started playing the game can he just level up through Dragonflight dungeons and do M+ and raiding? Or does he have to complete the Main quest?
Hi there,
Your friend should be able to queue for Mythic+ dungeons upon reaching maximum level in-game. You don’t need to do any quests to unlock dungeons in the game! Just make sure to gear up first before stepping into Mythic+ dungeons!

Same for raids! You don’t need to do any quests to enter raids. You just need to be sure to be the appropriate iLevel when queuing for them!
As far as I can tell, only World Quests are locked behind the main campaign. Might have missed something, but there you go.
There are few downsides to skipping the main campaign, no dragon riding or dragon mounts without it and dungeons like norkhud would be torture without dragon riding( hell they might definitely kick you even in normals let alone mythic+ if you don’t have dragon riding.) No campaign also means no world quests, no way to get easy renown, you’ll be missing out on lot of cosmetics, profession bonuses and so much more.
