Right now my MW is 50, I enjoy the class except I feel like I struggle to keep people alive if more than 2 people take damage at once. The small aoe heal is nothing for big group damage spikes. Do they get better? Any suggestions?
Yes it does, it gets much better when you hit 120 and get relatively geared.
Edit: Make sure to be keeping your renewing mist up as much as possible when you vivify it will cleave heal any targets that have the HoT on them. Aoe healing gets much better when you get essence font, since it allows you burst heal multiple targets pretty rapidly.
Hello Cana. I have also just began playing my monk again. He was my main back in legion. I am mostly WW and never played MW. For soloing elites is it better to go BRM or MW? I heard back in legion ppl used MW to solo stuff since they can survive while doing decent dps. is it still true now? I tried soloing as BRM buuut it does not have the sustain that my Blood DK has to solo lolz. I got spoiled by my BDK’s self heals lolz
Hey Cana, thank you for the reply. I still learning the Monk Healing style. I haven’t healed since Cata days on a pally.
So should I be spreading around who has Renewing Mist on them vs just the tank for it to bounce? The issue I have is this. Granted right now i’m lvl 51.
Lets say 4 people take damage and I see it’s getting worse. I’ll toss out essence font quickly> then renewing mist on the tank>soothing Mist then either Enveloping or Viv depending their HP and move on to another target. If this isn’t viable I’ll toss Life Cocoon on the tank. and hit the DPS with Soothing etc to get their HP up. I’ll also if big groups toss out Chi Burst right away.
What else can I be doing better or different?
Go to youtube and check out some videos there of how to play MW, there’s some really good tutorials to get you going, it’s how I learned to play mine. I think MW is much more fun than any other healer which is why I’m leveling one on the Horde side too
I seen a few listed. any content creators you recommend as being a good one to watch?
MarcelianOnline for sure.
sweet ty. I will check it out.
Np! The one from 2 weeks ago is a good one.
" HEALING GLORY WITH MW MONK! 8.2.5 Mistweaver GUIDE"
that one?
Yep that would be the one.
Honestly in that situation i wouldn’t RM the tank but rather a dps, when essence font HoT is on a person your mastery when you get it later on, hits them twice it provides a nice bit of burst healing. Once you get your mastery your AoE healing is going to drastically go up using the EF>x2 mastery proc on RM and viv.
Now if your tank is below lets say 35% its prob best to Soothing>EM>Viv> then move on to your dps. When 8.3 drops life cocoon might be alot better to use, but as it stands now i really only use it on dps its not even worth putting on a tank. The absorb gets chewed through in like 2 melee hits from most bosses. Also use chi burst with a hint of salt, taking the 10% extra healing bonus to EM could be more beneficial then trying to aim and get the most out of chi burst, personally i use chi burst more as a aoe dps spell for m+ rather then a heal.
Edit: If you want a bit more help you can get in contact with me via Discord @ Andrew#4323.
WW solo’s most of the world just fine, now if were talking about world bosses or mobs that have lets say 5mil+ hp in bfa then it a different story. Really with Karma and the sheer amount of burst dps WW puts out most elites are rarely a problem. I wouldn’t solo using MW, unless your willing to spend a vast amount of time trying to kill 1 elite their damage output is quite low compared to other healers.
Edit: Plus WW has so much movement that you could escape and reset pretty easily.
I would not suggest trying to solo with brew, they really only have healing elixirs as a self sustain, that and they don’t do as much damage as other tanks just makes them not very viable for open world soloing at least for efficiency. You could make it work, but really its not worth the trouble.
Thanks for the reply. Yes even back Legion my brewmaster sucked at soloing those elite mobs in the open world since they just do not have the sustain that prot paladin and blood DK have. My friends used to tell me they used MW to solo elites in Legion hence was curious about it. I will go WW all the way then and slowly gear up my BM on the side for dungeons etc.
Are BM good tanks for dungeons and raids this xpac? again i am kind of got spoiled by the immortality of blood dk lolz
BrM has been at the top of raiding and about middle tier for dungeons this xpack, sadly in the upcoming patch they are going to be getting hit with a pretty sizable nerf, so who knows how well they will do.
ok thanks. I like that monk has three roles and i like the theme of it like my DK so want to know how far I will go with it. I might make it my main again if I really grow to love it again although the upcoming DK themed xpac is very tempting to playing DK haha That and blood DK is immortal in open world haha. But the animations of monks are really nice. Even the battle stances of BrM and MW is awesome.
edit: I also like porting to our class order hall as monk. The color and serene surrounding, as well as asian aethetics, of it is very nice
Its good to see more people that like monk, we’ve always been one of the least played classes which baffles me. I have so much fun with my monk, its quickly become one of my most played classes, i have like 2400+ hours played on her now.
If you ever need any help, just give me a shout always willing to help people understand monks at least to the best of my ability.
That is one of the reason I tried monk when i returned to WoW in Legion. I quit WoW after Cata and never really experienced monk and their debut in MoP. I read a lot of complaints etc. so I thought “Hmm monk is interesting yet many ppl hate it, maybe I will try playing one to relearn game and at the same time see why people do not like it” So I levelled a monk starting from level 1 and really loved him and he became my main in Legion.
I returned to DK because of the achievements (he has been my main since WoTLK) and class order hall story since DK order hall story is superb.
But yesterday just wiped the dust off my 110 monk and quickly got to 113 doing nazmir zone haha. He is much more squishy than my DK but his burst damage is indeed higher and animation is superb. Like the feeling of punching and doing a huge roundhouse kick to the face of mobs lolz. Feels so satisfying
edit: I might need to farm a lot of xmogs on MoP content though for my monk. Really dont have much good xmogs on my monk compared to the raid tier sets my DK has when i raided on him back on wotlk and cata
