As the title says, am I completely wasting my time starting fresh on SoD? Should I wait for the next season?

I would start its very easy to catch up and Naxx is right around the corner.
No next season has been announced and I thought there will be one.

Not to late to start at all.
While leveling make sure you do the Nightmare Incursion Dailies in Duskwood (level 25), Ashenvale (40), Feralas and Hinterlands (50). As they give alot of exp and reputation for the Emerald Wardens which gives a very good set of rare gear at level 50.
All of Tier 1 and half of T2 is on the Reals vendor. You get reals from dungeon bosses that are level 55+ once a day (Scholo, Strath, LBRS, BRD) are usually the go to dungeons for them. While MC and BWL also drop 3 reals per boss (MC gives 30 and BWL 27) ZG drops 1 real per boss.
Most MC runs (H1=Heal 1) don’t mind if you are a fresh 60 as most of the people there don’t need the gear or 1 specific item so you can usually easily get tier. Loot rules are usually MS>OS +1.

Sod is not perfect but very good i recommand to new players, you can buy all runes at lvl 1 cheap and they strong. Easy to catch up level and grind pvp-pve both still alive.

Now is the perfect time for anyone to get back into SoD. Leveling is quicker, all runes are available from the rune broker, tier 1 8/8 and tier 2 4/8 are available on the reals vendor. Phase 7 Karazhan Crypts and Naxx right around the corner followed up by the Scarlet Crusade raid. SoD has been blowing up the last few weeks with the announcement of Phase 7 and just has been getting more and more players.

Tons of new players have started in the last couple weeks and tons of existing players creating alts.

Blizzard made the runes buyable at level 1 for the sole reason of “it’s not too late to start” and “alts”.
Xp buff is still at 150% all the way until 60, and there are still tons of players out in the world questing and leveling thanks to the runes you can get so early now.

With so many people making alts, you’ll have tons of people to play with while leveling.

SOD is 1000000x more fun to level right now than anytime in sods existence.
Forcing people to chase the same runes down on multiple alts was horrible. Having your “runes”, aka talents from the start makes leveling really fun and a bit overpowered which is also fun.
I picked up SoD about a week ago. There are tons of people leveling up right now. There are also a lot of bots… but it’s still quite enjoyable with all the runes unlocked at the beginning and the xp buff.
