Does it make sense shaman abilities work in shadowlands?

Shamans call upon the elementals, who exist in the elemental plane, NOT the death plane that we go to in shadowlands. It doesn’t make sense their abilities work in shadowlands when elementals have nothing to do with death or anything. MAYBE night fae would work at best (and even that seems stretching the lore), but if a shaman chooses the vampire or undead covenant…definitely not.

To me, it seems shamans need new abilities when they go to shadowlands, making it almost like a new class when entering. So when they go to shadowlands, they get a complete new ability lineup, and then when they go back to azeroth they get the normal elemental stuff.

Dunno, I guess if you stretch lore enough can make it work with enough backflipping and backstrokes, but that is really pushing it and just making excuses why shamans can work in shadowlands. Maybe again like I said, night fae would maybe work. But there isn’t really a covenant for elementals because its the death plane, not the elemental plane.

It would be interesting though if blizzard re-designed shamans for shadowlands only, so they become almost two types of classes in one. Because how it is, it doesn’t really make sense for them.

But I dunno, maybe I’m missing something in lore about elemental plane and the realm of the dead plane. Have they ever interacted at all?

A bridge has been made between Azeroth and Shadowlands - Shamans will be able to draw upon their powers just fine just as they have on other planets.

They can’t make the abilities we have work, you think they could come up with death plane abilities?

Well great, now I want to see a Shaman specific quest where they attune themselves with the Shadowlands elements.

Just a reminder you’re talking about a game where you can swim in plate armor and cast fireballs underwater.

that would be cool actually and would allow it to make sense. There are elements in shadowlands right? Haven’t heard anything about it. But, it be almost like the shaman quests of old when had to quest to get certain elements. Like when got the fire element abilities had to do a big quest for it. Back in classic that quest was pretty hard back in the day, but allowed one to then use fire elemental totems/spells.

I kinda like the idea of the spell being just “summon elemental” and the elementals appearance changing depending on where you are.

honestly, it would be a great reason to make shaman trash for another expansion in a whole

Only if it’s as aggravating as the vanilla water totem quest chain.

well, shamans ARE considered the masochist class. So it would be pretty fitting :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah. Just remove all shaman abilities for the sake of “muh lore”. that’ll go over well.

Why is calling an elemental from the elemental plane to the “reality” plane any different than calling it to the “death plane”.

Shamans use themselves and totems to call the elemental and anchor them in our plane of existence. No backflipping needed.

This thread was most likely made in reaction to our Shadowlands covenant abilities being restricted to Shadowlands zones.

Don’t give them more excuses to nerf shamans.

Your argument makes no sense at all. If we can’t call upon the elements while in the plane of death, then how are we doing it in the plane of life?

There are lots of dead elementals though. They can probably call on those.

When an elemental dies, according to WoW gamepedia (its the “elemental” page) the elemental goes back to the elemental plane. If it dies in the elemental plane, it supposedly kills them permanently.

Course shamans will be fine in Sl … I mean…thralls going to be there.

Yeah you got me on that one. X.X

Shaman is already dead in another way, so it works.
