Of the company or the person? You honestly cant say that having a huge workload and 0 recources to do said workload while other areas get an abundance of support wouldn’t tick you off?
Now way all the classes and specs with all the pve stuff stacked on top? Aint no way 2 people could handle that
I’m pretty sure Chris did a lot of good for the game. He was the original designer for the monk class, and his last work was the new shadowpriest.
Unfortunately, according to his goodbye video, he’d say “these are the 10 things we’d like to address” and Blizz would say “pick one”. If you can think of 10 things you’d like addressed in this game (and I think we all can), odds are you might get one. So yeah, sounds like a pretty resource limited department in an otherwise overflowing company, ripe with opportunity.
My personal sentiment is that it’s a really sad way to watch one of my favorite games of all time deteriorate. They just aren’t willing to put up the resources required, and the passionate people are leaving. I’m betting it’s to find places they can be passionate about good games. It’s a cash grab at this point if they don’t start investing back into the game.
Check out his video if you haven’t. It’s worth a watch for sure.
0 PVP, no freaking wonder why he has NO FREAKING CLUE of what he is doing.
He gets carried through raids for “game design purposes” 100% hes a keyboard turner
Wait… Were you being serious?
PvP team? Wus dat?
Edit: Oh, you meant the pvp duo, not pvp team. I see.
Not even a duo anymore, unless they replaced Chris already.
Might be a good thing, who knows.
He’s a raid logger from the looks of it
They should hire a guy with multiple personality disorder for the position. That way they can say they have a pvp team.
As I told in other topics: until there is no change in the leading game designer position, no changes will happen.
#IONOUT
Oh and lets not forget. There are no raid boss nerfs till Eye-on’s group can’t get past it.
There is no PVP team anymore. They all left, now Mr. Eye-on is in charge of all of it. Just look how it has gone. Nice job, don’t you think.
He has no clue about pvp at all. Yet he makes all the final decisions.
To be honest, he took over in Legion and look how the game keeps going down hill. Good thing other games are coming out. Alot made from x-blizz employee’s who cared about the player base.
Does Ion PvP?
Lmao, does God work a 9-5?
I personally have a disdain for the man and all of the designers over at blizzard. But currently I’m sober of the internal rage I feel towards ion and the Devs so i’ll speak to what is likely the truth.
The reality is if you guys think that Ion of any one of the “game devs” over at Blizzard have even a modicum of autonomy than you guys aren’t really familiar with what it’s like to work at a mega corporate monster like Activision. I can’t believe I’m actually defending them but the truth is that Ion is a talking head / PR puppet for Activision.
When any of these guys are interviewed, their job in said interview is 100% damage control; it’s not to inform, or listen, or even to understand the issues players have. It’s 100% about deflection. The reality is that Activision has the game by the throat and the only thing that matters to them is money, and the time efficiency at which it is earned. Making the most amount of money while commiting the least amount of resources is the only thing that they care about; and the devs @ blizzard are pawns to fulfilling that reality.
From a business standpoint PvP is objectively an inefficient use of resources (as it currently stands). The metrics have proven it over the last few years and that’s all that matters to Actiblizz. Granted they are insanely short sighted in that anyone with a brain could see that they have a potential gold mine with WoW arena, but activision is so rich off of what they already have there is no reason for them to go out on a limb and commit resources towards building something that isn’t a guaranteed return so they stick to what has made them money all these years which always has been the pve elements of the game.
To summarize I think Ion and the rest of the team have done an absolute garbage job since they’ve been around, but I also think that they don’t have the autonomy to affect change even if they wanted to.
Changes do happen though. There were many changes throughout the season and next patch includes almost a complete revamp of the honor talents system.
I wouldn’t look to deeply into Ion’s character. The fact of the matter is that while Ion is the director, he still works within a very large Blizzard team, which includes developers and game masters that do engage PVP. Ion isn’t designing the game around himself.

No. He got duelist in 2009.
I looked up his raider .io in season 4 of BFA and he had like 3 dungeons done, I think a 12, 14, and a 15 all over time, but not like slightly over time like I’m talking a 1.5 hour 15 KR. It was really weird tbh I wonder if he was testing something or what in each dungeon but there’s no way his guild would take that sort of time to clear 15 or below keys
He thinks arena’s brackets are PVE tiers. What a dummy.
