im lvl 25 leveling hpal and no group wants me and the ones that are willing to take me i can barely heal the tank. Sounds like beacon of faith is a useless rune sacred shield does no healing and from what i heard Holy Shock does nothing too. Can anyone else confirm this? was really looking forward to a shockadin build but if im just gonna be compeltely useless im not even gonna bother lvling past 25
your still a tank healer primarily, give everyone slav and the tank light, fack what they say its your buffs and you decide, keep sacred shield on the tank to get 50 % plus crit, now with sheath of light and sacred shield you flash of light will leave 2 hots on the target when you crit and it cost you no mana. keep beacon of light for when you know big damaged is coming in to safe mana.
Holy paladin gets way better phase 2 with talents and runes stick with it its about to get a lot better. You dont need to spec for shockadin you can be an extremely strong healer with the heal runes
thanks guys!
Just ran a SM cath with an hpal and it was great. They got lots of love this phase.
i played it in tbc and remember casting holy light a LOT on tank is that the same with classic?
Saw one and invited one to my team in locks today with healing gears and etc.
Short answer is that pally healers are very small in number and are not that good compared to druid and priest.
no you want to use flash of light as much as possible because of how it works with sacred shield, only use holy light if you falling behind in healing, it just cost to much mana and in raids it will be to slow in most situations. beacon of light plus divine flavor and holy light is 1300 healing on two people for free so try to use them together, and use blessing of light on the tank. since paladins don’t have aoe heals its even more important for us that only the tank that has sacred shield takes damage.
Hpal is awesome.
People just don’t like it because it’s not as easy as priest’s lulxdaoehealzbutton
thanks a ton for info and advice!
So I did a few test runs of this build that incorporates Melee into the equation “Lightbringer” build so to speak. It works and it’s scary due to Sheath of Light, mind you im in full Ret gear str build etc.
Effectively you can swap out runes to meet a scenario like: Divine Storm for Horn if no might or Divine Sacrifice for Anti Fear aura.
Make sure your Tank has Blessing of Light and maintain Seal of the Crusader the entire time. A good rule of thumb is refresh Sacred Shield when you ahve to Reseal. Judgment you will be utilizing Light.
Right now due to Sheath I will have approx 251 Spell Damage and Healing + Bonus from Blessing of LIght on primary target. Weave Crusader Strike or Divine Storm to help spot heal an then Flash of Light main tank, use Holy Shock and SS/FoL Sheath as a buffer right after if you have to utilize a big Holy Light. Divine Favor should strictly be for Holy Light use.
Ive seen past 1800 holy light crits with this on emergency pulls and that crit is free and now it grants a HoT equal to 60% of it.
Now you wont be in a damn dress and can be in the fray, CS for mana, SoCruu for AP conversion to Spell Power and utilize your JoL/JoW appropriately and learn the flow of combat so you can make mana managment amazing.
Hpal is a beast in dungeons, I’m usually second or 3rd DPS. I love the dungeon play style with sheath.
I still feel like we are nowhere near other healers for raid. I was sweatin like hell trying to keep up with heals in Gnomer. Then ran it on priest and was watchin Netflix eatin chips and doubling my pallies heals.
I still feel like paladin needs some kind of aoe heal, doesn’t have to be on par with the others… just something…
