Does having a fake name on my battle net put me at risk?

I made this account so long ago, and used a nonsense nickname ‘relis sanitai’ or something for my name. Was just wondering if I screwed myself over by doing this? I don’t ever want to get locked out of my account for not having an ID with this name.

I added a mobile number just in case

This account is solely mine and I did not purchase it (I don’t even play retail)- just figured id mention that as I have anxiety and I always think people are going to assume the worst.

thanks.

My first account used a fake name, and it was an absolute nightmare to get my account back when it was compromised.

I can’t say that it would be impossible, but it makes recovery much harder if the name isn’t actually yours. The first request I got was a license with my name and credit card data with my name to prove that I was me.

If you ever get locked out to the point you need Blizzard’s help getting back, or if you are ever hacked, you’ll most likely lose the account permanently.

In either of those cases they require you to submit an ID that matches the name on the account to get it back.

If you submit a ticket to Blizzard about this now they should be able to help you. You are not the first person to create an account ages ago under a fake name.

If you wait until your account is compromised/locked in anyway, it’s less likely they’ll be able to help. At that point, you’re the “hacker” for all they know.

Why would you post the name?

Why not make a new account since you’re starting over anyway?

Not if you remember what it was. However, this exact scenario was how I permanently lost my original account that I’d had from launch day…it was compromised and I couldn’t remember the fake data. The woman at blizz sounded like she was cringing, she was definitely looking at a fake address and knew what was happening, but couldn’t give me the account back unless I got it right.

I misspelled it anyway, and I already re-rolled and levelled three times (for queue reasons), just hoping to avoid that.
