Does gold have currency in the Shadowlands?

If gold doesn’t have currency in the afterlife, why does the ferryman require two gold coins to take the dead across the River Styx?

I am guessing that Blizzard will not add an alternative Shadowlands currency, but ya never know till you know.

Because the coins actually held the eyelids closed, or something, but a myth sprang up around it to give a concrete reason for doing it (paying for passage to your after life.) Can’t quite from posts, on this $16 tracphone.

Maybe they will let us put a couple coins on our eyes.

At least we’ll be able to pay the ferryman.
