Does gear matter for Preist?

I’ve had my gear set so that its for the Shadow spec however I now want to try playing one of the healing specs so I can get into dungeons and raids quicker. Does gear matter in this case? I don’t have a staff I have a one hand and off hand.

Haste mastery is going to be your all around best stats for priests in general. Your output might lack slightly if you are mostly crit/vers, but all secondary stats for priests have their functions. I would simply just go for ilvl if You’re low ilvl at first then start to worry about stats once you reach a comfortable ilvl. When in doubt YouTube it lol. All answers are on YouTube.

Shadow — Haste>Mastery>Crtit=Vers

Disc— Haste=Mastery>=Vers>Crit

Holy—Haste>Mastery>Vers>Crit

For Holy in raid it is Mastery > Crit > Vers > Haste

All Priest specs have intellect as main stat so all the gear you get will have Int on it meaning you can use it for any of the 3 specs and it will be effective.

Now if you want to perform optimally you might wanna collect different sets with different secondary stats but it’s not as big of a deal, at least initially you can totally play any spec with whatever gear you have, then worry after optimizing stuff latter.

Trinkets are another area where you might wanna look for different ones for damage/healing, but at an introductory level it wont matter that much.

As for what stats you want to look for any spec I’d recommend looking at the Wowhead or Icyveins guides (the ones someone posted above from “youtube” are not the optimal ones so just check the guides to have up to date information).

Yes Not to beat a Dead horse or anything
Disc- Haste-Mastery-Crit-Vers (Most switch up do and Haste- Crit-Vers-Mastery)

Holy -Mastery-Crit-Vers-Haste (Due to Haste not really Affecting Holy in anyway besides Mana Regain and Renew Ticks)

Shadow- Haste- Mastery- Crit-Vers

I have no mastery as I main healing but I still absolutely pump as shadow. You won’t be suffering that badly.

For dungeons I stack haste and vers though :+1: Haste for lower CDs and cast times so, in a fast dungeon, haste is nice! Vers helps me stay alive lol.

The stats you listed are what I use as a guide for my raid set though. :slightly_smiling_face:
